Hey,

I have a friend who is moving into a newly built house. They are leaving a house they really love but just way too small for her and her family. I would really like to get them a special house warming present something other than just a house plant or the likes.. Something a little unique, possibly something that brings a little of their old house to their new house.. Or maybe not.. would really love any suggestion you have

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you very much for your suggestions, I loved them!! After one of you moms suggested a photo shoot I could not get that idea out of my head.. Then I remembered that my husbands work mate is a part time amateur photographer he does beautiful stuff. So I asked him if he would help out and do a photo shoot for them (which is a lot cheaper than a professional photographer).. So we have it set up for this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it.. Thank you all again for the suggestions...

If you know what colors she likes, you might get her a few throw pillows/blankets to toss on the couch. A small candle holder (which holds 3-6 tea lights or votiffe candles) are nice, too and look great on a mantle, counter or as a centerpiece.

How about purchasing a stepping stone kit for their garden? That way they have something that they can personalize by possibly marking the date that they moved into their new house or with their children's handprints and initials, or both. You can purchase the kits at Michaels or your nearest arts and crafts store.

I don't know how extravagent you would like to go, but a photo shoot in their old house and a nicely framed family portrait as a keepsake would probably be very touching for them. Otherwise, if you have a green thumb, you could get a clipping of a particularly beautiful plant they have outside their current home, root it, and give it to them to plant at the site of their new house.

Otherwise, for house-warming, I like a candle and a gift card.

hmmmmmm. well, im a little humorous. i always bring a plunger. lol. i know every time i have moved into a new place the first thing to go wrong is always a clogged toilet! lol.

but if you are wanting to go more personal, maybe an engraved door knocker with their last names?

How about a custom Doormat.. http://personalizedcustomgifts.com/Live-Laugh-Love-Person...

Or go to Bed Bath and Beyond and purchase a monogrammed door met.

I also love a good quality American flag with the wooden pole..

Something for the kitchen, since most women spend alot of time there. Maybe go to a speciality store and look for something that reminds you of her outlook on life. Coffee mugs, plaques with funny things on them, wine glasses, whatever makes you think of her.

When my husband and I bought our first house a friend gave us a basket and in it was everything to make an Italian supper: wine, bread, sauce and noddles. It was cute and fun.

I love anything with candles but I also like giftcards and that may be something she might like - especially if you have a kirklands close by

I can tell you that the photo from the house across the street was the favorite gift they received (per the neighbors). We took a pic and then used Corel Paint Shop Pro and turned it into a kind of neon negative thing (you can see that type of pic at almost any photo editing program). They loved what their house looked liked. I think that their favorite pic was them at their patio table looking like they were so relaxed. Give them a memory. They will love you for that.
God Bless.

It's not really unique, but I would of loved some restaurant gift cards. The last thing I wanted to do when I moved is worry about cooking dinner.
