Hotel Accomodations for Vacation with My 20-Month Daughter

I have traveled a lot with my little ones so I have some experience here. First of all since you are going out of the country I think you should plan on bringing lots of diapers and lots of kid friendly food. If you are staying at a very americanized resort you may not need so much food, but you know how picky little ones can be... but the diapers you will be able to get are either really pricey (from the resort) or not quite the same... remember you are going to a very poor country.
You are also going to want to find out what they have for children to sleep in, if its an old crib... you may want to consider bringing your own pack-n-play or plan on your daughter sleeping on the floor. Some of those things are seriously scary... Many hotels now have pack-n-plays that they will loan you but I would check on that.

Other than that, just bring stuff to have fun, DVD players are great if they will sit and watch, coloring stuff, books, and favorite dolls etc are a must.

I agree with the other mom that said its pretty hard to child proof a hotel room, you just have to watch them closer.

I would request a room close to the amenities of the hotel since your little girl will probably want to be swimming and if the hotel has a playground. I don't think it'll matter upper or lower floor. Either way you are going to have to watch her with an eagle eye.

I agree with the other mom, only bring enough food, diapers for your plane ride there and buy the rest when you get to the resort. I would bring outlet plugs, they don't take much room but can save you from worrying about that. I also agree you can call the hotel ahead and see if they have a port-a-crib for rent. If not, bring a pack and play. Bring any special toys or blankets your daughter is attached to so it feels somewhat "homey". The portable DVD player is a great idea too.

My daughter and I have gone on several trips and stayed in many hotels. I wouldn't worry to much about childproofing because you aren't going to be able to childproof everything. You will probably need to keep a closer eye on her. I always figured I would use 6 diapers every 24 hours. If your daughter is using the potty sometimes then you most definitely won't need as much. My other suggestion would be to wait and buy things when you get there, like diapers. They take up a lot of room when packing. If you would rather bring everything, at least maybe have the mindset of being willing to buy anything you might need. That will help releave some of the stress of packing. Most of all, don't let the stress of packing and traveling spoil the fun. I hope you have a wonderful safe trip.

I'm not sure I understand the question. What is the difference, really? Get the kind of room that you like best, I guess. You can't really child-proof a hotel room, but what is there to be child-proofed anyway? Does she sleep in a crib still? If so you will have to get one put in the room. Otherwise she can just sleep in one of the beds? Maybe see if the hotel has a packnplay or something.

the hotel will probably have a crib you can request. as for feeding and diapers, bring enough for the plane ride plus some extra in case of delays and buy the rest there. That way you won't be taking up so much room in your bags. Does your child have their own seat on the plane? My 19 month old is really active and it was hard last time I traveled not to have her own seat. But either way make sure you take something to keep them occupied. We have a portable DVD that works great.

I will tell you Just rember when you go n-e-where you take lots of things because of children so I do not stay on a level floor because I do not like carring bunches of stuf or take lots of trips to the car.. when I go on vacation I want to some R-R.I would not get a room by the pool I beleave you know why.Water and kids do not mix exsp. with slidding doors.
