Dd was invited to sleepover. Would like to get something for birthday girlr to open. But my dd is no help as she doesn't tend to really get into anything besides Lego friends and I don't think this girl is into that.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Dd has played w this girl before. Her parents buy her everything she wants and then some. My dd says this girl likes craft stuff but has a ton.

Thought it was a little early for gift cards. We don't watch much tv or troll the store much so I don't often know of the latest fad.

At ten the kids aren't really into birthday presents anymore. They prefer cash and gift cards. We give a gist card or cash and wrap up some candy to go with it.

My daughter is 11 and unless it is for one of her 3 really close friends, I ask the parents.

Gift cards are always good.
Arts and crafts.
Clothes (you'll need sizes).
iTunes cards.
Nail polish/beauty things.

Added: I just read your SWH. Even if she has tons of art supplies (like my 11 year old) she is ALWAYS looking for something new.

I'm sure on the invitations it gave her parents number, so you could call them and ask for some suggestions.

Does she have an American girl doll? There's always stuff to buy there. One of mine is almost 10. Still loves her doll. The store Justice is getting big with her friends. Earrings? Does she have pierced ears? My daughter also loves Lego friends. Maybe this girl does too even if your daughter's not sure or hasn't tried them yet. I've heard hair chalk is a big thing in that age group now. Hasn't hit our area but a friend mentioned it for her 10 year old. I don't think they're too old for gifts and it has to be cash or a gift card. No one does that around us. Occasionally a gift card but not that often.

my daughter is older, but for the last few years at least, Barnes and Noble has had LOTS of leather bound books for $20. Many are OLD classics...some are newer works.

I have been getting these for MY kiddos based on their interests...but youngest daughter has been getting some for friends for a while now too. Always well received, and price is wonderful!

Just a thought.

Well if your daughter was invited to this girls sleepover she must know SOMETHING about her, right? So ask your daughter, is this a girly girl? crafty/artsy? does she like to read, write or draw? is she into video games, sports or music? If I didn't know the birthday child very well I just asked my kids what to get them.
If your daughter truly doesn't have a clue then give her some cash in a birthday card, I guess, but I would hope they are actually friends if they are spending a whole night together!
