Hormonal Imbalance

My hormones have seemed to be out of balance since the birth of my 2nd child. I had this problem before getting pregnant with my first. Was fine until after the birth of my 2nd. (irregular cycles, weight gain, moodiness, cramping and bloating, symptoms worse from ovulation until day 1 of my cycle. I actually feel the best when I am on my period.) I am looking for a natural way to help my body balance out my hormones and finally lose my baby weight!

What can I do next?

I highly recommend Tenesha Weine, DC of Infinity Wellness. I had a similar problem after the birth of my second child and Dr. Weine has really helped me. Her phone number is ###-###-#### and her website is www.drteneshaweine.com. good luck and Tell her D. recommends her.

E. I understand! I have had similar problems, but what worked the very best for me is Herbalife products. There are a lot of companies and products that are out on the market right now, but I always came back to Herbalife, which is where I will be for the rest of my life! I have 4 kids and have lost over 50 lbs and have kept it off for over 4 years now! I'd love to help you feel better because I know that this totally natural!

Hope to hear from you!

I know that you wanted a "natural way to balance out hormones" but I love my IUD! I found it much better than birth control pills, patches, and rings. My periods last 1 day and are predictable and I don't have mood swings nor did I gain weight! I love it and when we are ready to have another child the doctor simply removes it. I wasn't thrilled about putting a foreign object in my body however, it has proven to be FANTASTIC. Talk to your OBGYN!

I'm the same way, I feel like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hide sometimes... Anyway, I find that taking a "me" moment and excercising helps me to get back to ME! It could be taking extra time in the shower to just relax, giving myself an pedicure, going shopping, whatever. I seem to be a better mom when I do these.

A trip to the Dr. is always good especially if you are on birth control of any kind. I am 47 and raised 2 daughters which are now grown coping with the same problems. I told my daughter I had the same problems too. It took her a while to get straight. She finaly changed Drs and birth control. Myself I could not take b_control when younger but I found that I could use St Johns Wart,my husband called them my happy pills. It is an good herb and inexpesive. You can tell results in a short period of time. I have never had any real problems with alergies which can be a concern when taking an herb. I have recomended to many people and they recieved excelent results. Most important take some time for yourself and have a good mommmy&family schedule it helps alot with the stress. I always got up extra early in the morning to enjoy and start a few chores before my kids woke up. I was a stay at home mom and raised several other children besides my own. Enjoy and good luck. S.

E.,
It is very common to have your hormones out of whack after having children.. as young as you are it is highly likely that your progesterone which is a hormone regulator, is out of kilter.. Try over the counter cream..I think someone made reference to Arbonne.. Emerita is good, there are lots of good ones, and you can find em online.. do a little research. Dr. Lee was the pioneer on this topic.I think that is what they were referring to. If you are nervous about that, then try a Dr. who specializes in natural treatments for all your symptoms. There are some in our area,.. some are really expensive, like 2K for the initial several hour consult. But others, like Sakina Davis at market street (GP) charge a 55-60 new patient fee and she is trained in the used of bio identical hormones, which means they would likely give you compounded progesterone capsules. They can check your thyroid and do a saliva cortisol as well. All these work in harmony to balance you out.
You will likely see a difference pretty quickly...or maybe you need estrogen as well...anyway, it might be worth a try. I know so many women who just needed some simple hormone adjustment without using chemical pharmacueticals. Pay attention to your diet as well, as one of the other writers suggested; it can make a big difference.

I've been seeing an acupuncturist once a week for the past several weeks. It's been helping me a TON...so much so that I started bringing my teenage daughter in to be treated for hormonal imbalance, too! Elizabeth Fordyce is the name of the practitioner and she's in Austin, off of Mopac and Spicewood Springs.
Good luck!

Have you had your thyroid checked. This is a very common but rarely diagnosed problem in many mommies. Problem in your thyroid gland can lead to many of the symptoms you described.

I just lost 28 lbs with Weight Watchers (you don't have to buy special food). I tried diets and exercise and nothing was helping with the hormones or the fat! Now, I believe it is all about the food! I do agree though that you should see a doc and make sure there isn't any other underlying problem ie thyroid.

I agree with many of the other posts. I had a thyroid issue after my second baby and got it regulated quickly and dropped the baby weight. You might get your thyroid checked out. I have used the Arbonne Natural Balancing Cream for over a year also and LOVE it.

Try acupuncture and Chinese Herbs. They have been miracle workers for me. You live close to the Academy of Oriental Medicine at Austin, which is on Anderson Lane near Burnet. You can get low cost treatments in the student clinic there. Or if you want a graduate, they can give you referrals to a good one close to your home.

E., I am a midwife so I would like to tell you to have your thyroid checked. Pregnancy can wreck havoc on it and it is not a good idea to take supplemnets etc until youve had this checked first. If its fine and you are just a little off balance there are great herbs you can take. Feel free to contact me, I can run the tests for you and give you holistic healthcare advice. my email is

Sounds hormonal to me. I would suggest some natural progesterone creme - it has been wonderful for balancing my hormones. From my reading - as we age - we women stop producing progesterone and we tend to become estrogen dominant - hence, the bloating, headaches, moodiness, brain clouds, weight gain, etc. Our cycles during the month were meant to be 2 weeks high in estrogens and then the progesterone is meant to rise and cause a drop in the estrogens for the next 2 weeks, but this is not happening in many women in our modern stressed society. There are no negative side effects from using natural progesterone - if you do finally fill the void and you reach optimum dose - you will probably feel sleepy, but sleeping good is a positive.
I order mine on line because the brand I use has been lab tested to contain the proper amounts of natural progesterone and I say natural because it is in the exact molecular structure that your body makes it - synthetic or man made progesterone is not and therefore your body doesn't know what to really do with it -- the website I use is www.kokorohealth.com. Dr. John Lee has several books out about perimenapause and menopause and covers all women's health issues as well -- seeing as menopause symptoms, such as hormonal fluctuations can start for women in as early as the 30's it is real important to begin your education process. the next time you go to the Dr. get a blood test for your hormone levels.
