Hope to Need Realtor/mortgage Broker Soon!

I've just interviewed for a great job at UF and hope to be moving to G'ville soon from the Kansas City area. We love G'ville, but we don't know anyone yet. If I get an offer, we're going to need to move pretty quickly, so anything I can do to prepare will be very helpful. I need a good realtor who's fine with "starter" homes (we can't afford those $200K pool homes!), and a good mortgage broker. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Well, I know of a house for sale. Brick home, 3 bedrooms/2bath..huge family room, new paint and carpet. almost 2200 sq feet. In the country, almost an acre, very quite neighborhood, near lakes. Only "drawback" would be its about 25 mi from Gainesville, so the drive to work is about 30-40 minutes. But, the town is small so most everybody drives either east or west same distance to get to the "city" to work. Not sure the price, I think its about $199. In Clay County (if you wanted to do any investigating on schools there). Price it out, houses in Gainesville (Alachua County) are pretty expensive, even to rent an apartment 3 bedroom is upwards of $850. Good luck and let me know if you want more information on the house. It is not listed with an realitors at this point, which could save both parties some money.

Hello,

I work at UF, and I grew up in Gainesville. Congrats on the new job (if all goes well)! We started looking at houses two years ago near campus, but we found that everything in our price range was pretty old. If you guys are up for fixing up an older house, that might be a good investment. We didn't feel up for that, so we ended up moving to east Gainesville. I live about 10 minutes away from my building, and we live in a house in a safe neighborhood with a mortgage that's comfortable for us.

The mother of one of my old roommates was our realtor and we LOVED her. This was our first house, and she made us feel very comfotable. We trusted her, and that made what could have been a scary experience into a great experience. Because we were on a budget, we looked at lots of houses before we picked one, and she was patient and understanding. We love our house, and credit her with finding it. Her name is Vlaja Telfer, and she works at Matchmaker Realty in Gainesville. The phone number for the office is ###-###-#### or 800-848-3930.

Gainesville is relatively safe, but you definitely need to check out the houses and neighborhoods before you buy. If you want any advice about something you have picked out, send me a message. I'd be glad to give you my two cents.

Good luck and congratulations!
K.

Larry Skaggs at ReMax and Bosshardt off of 43rd St. are really good realtors. I am so happy for you. I also work at UF and enjoy it very much. I received my MBA degree and would love to continue a doctoral degree but that is wonderful for you. Best of Luck!
If you need any other information please let me know.
