Honest Car Repair Person
We have a 2000 subaru outback. The check engine light came on...we took it to the auto repair place that we usually use and they said it would be $400 just to fix the light. Does anyone have an auto repair place & or person they would recommend where we could get a second opinion? We are in east Dallas, but my husband works in the Carrolton area so we could go to a shop in either area. Thanks!

I would HIGHLY suggest Carrollton Lube Express. They were so good to me (being a woman in a car repair place) and honest!! Weren't pushy or anything! They are located at 1830 S Josey Lane, Carrollton, 75006, ###-###-####.
Good luck!!

Maybe try Autozone to see if there really is a problem. It is free. If nothing is wrong someone mentioned unhooking the battery and rehooking back on and the light might go off. Maybe the dealer sells the sensors cheap and you can replace it yourself. I personally hate those lights. I think it is a way for the dealerships to try and make more money. I think they automatacilly go off sometimes. My husband had a 300Z back in the day and found out how to turn it off. The switch was behind the glovebox. good luck!

L.~you can go to Auto Zone and they will tell you why the check engine light is coming on. You can figure out how much the part is from them and then see if your estimate is reasonable. Good luck!

Hi L.,
I would try Highlands Auto Center near Plano Rd. and NW. Hwy. They are very trustworthy, reliable and they always look to get me the best deal when fixing my volvo. Their shop had a fire in it a while back but they are still open for business and building a new shop behind their other one. Ask for Pat (mechanic) or Hussein the owner.
