We have Cypress but we also have multiple homes (not sure if that matters). Here is the link.

I am sure all the major insurance companies cover Florida as well, it's just the flood insurance you have to get seperate and that is through FEMA. You also have to pay that in full and it wont cover anything for 30 days.

Call Pettineo Insurance. They will run quotes for you and get back to you with the best rates. We have used them for all of our insurance.

We have Sawgrass Mutual Insurance Comp. We go through Nationwide and they found them for us. Good luck finding someone.

We are on our 2nd year owning a home in FL and the insurance needles to say is a pain in the arse!!! Our first company was Prepared. They were cheap. Our agent didn't 'house' them any more so we had to change after the 1st year and now we have St. Johns. If I were you, go to a well known agent in your area and talk with them. They can run your info through several companies at one time giving you a broader picture of what is out there for you. Every company is different on things like if your screened porch is part of your house of if you need to add that on to the policy for example. Also, when was the last wind mitigate inspection done on the house?? This can cost up to $150 but can save you on the insurance if your roof is under a certain age, roof is up to current code, shape of roof, etc. Price that service around as well and an agent can give you recommendations too.

Here is a link that list insurance companies by things like financial stability. http://projects.heraldtribune.com/insurancerisk/insurance... I find it helpful to see where a company is to make sure they can pay my claim if something bad should happen in my area!!!

Good luck!
S.

I would say Good Luck too. There's not much choice here. You'll probably wind up with state-run Citizens.
