Homebirth/Hypnobirthing/Waterbirth

I am new to the area and am trying to find CNM who does homebirths. I am willing to actually move if needed to be closer to one. I am also interested in WaterBirth and Hypnobirthing....does anyone have an experience with these? Any recommendations for classes in the area?

What can I do next?

Jennifer Gagnon, CNM is one of the few midwives that will do homebirths. http://www.awomansplacechicago.com is their website their address is: 4650 N. Rockwelion, Chicago, IL 60625 and you can email them directly at ____@____.com Jennifer is wonderful and you can tell her I sent you. I did go through the Bradley Method with Julie Parache, www.birthwithoutfear.com. Jennifer does have a hypnotherapist she will recommend to you as well. Good luck!!

I used hypnobabies (among other techniques) for my recent drug-free hospital VBAC. I found that it worked pretty well in early/mid labor. I was fortunate to have my mom, a CNM and fabulous labor support, to rely on for when things got really intense, so I sort of bagged the hypnosis at that point. I've seen lots of people use it all the way through, though.

For home birth A Woman's Place does them. Also Homefirst (I think they're docs, not midwives) and Sara Simmons is a CNM who does home births too. There are also 2 alternative birthing center rooms at West Suburban Hospital in Oak Park, and a few groups of CNMs who birth out of there. They do waterbirths there. I suggest Gayle Riedmann and her group, "West Suburban Midwives Associates" in Oak Park - they're great!!

There's also a Homebirth meetup in town (check meetup.com) - you can probably get a lot of great information from those ladies. Good luck!

You can look into Home First. They have offices in Naperville, Rolling Meadows, Orland Park and Chicago. They are a group of medical doctors and cnms. They do waterbirths too. They rent out the tubs and everything. I just had my second baby at home them (I didn't do a water birth)...they were wonderful!!! I highly recommend them. Their website is www.homefirst.com.

I experienced natural childbirth almost accidentally with my first child since I waited too long to ask for pain relief.
A self-hypnosis recording I used for 6 months prior to my second birth allowed me to have a second drug-free birth.
I used self-hypnosis & a midwife for my 3rd natural birth.
A certified hypnotherapist can help you experience a peaceful birth experience. Hypnosis is an effective tool that helps bypass the conscious mind to allow an extremely relaxed yet alert state of mind. It is also a powerful tool for releasing & overcoming fears such as fear of childbirth.
Hypnobirthing class info is available online or by calling the Garrett Wellness Center ###-###-####.
Wishing you a peaceful birth.
