Home Urine Test to Determine Gender of Baby

So have any of you heard of this? I am 12 weeks pregnant and just took one of those urine test that will tell you the sex of your baby this morning. When I first saw this at the drug store I thought for sure it was a lie. So before buying it I went home and looked it up on the computer and sure enough it's the real deal. Some news programs have done segments on it and even that show "The Doctors" researched it. They said it has hormones in this cup that when you add your urine to it it reacts turning green if you are having a boy and orange if you are having a girl. You have to wait until you are at least 10 weeks but then it is about 80 to 90 % accurate. (The farther along you are the more accurate it becomes) So I got green meaning I'm having a boy. Of course I'm trying not to get too excited cause there's a chance it's wrong. So I was just wondering if anyone else has used this and if it was right or wrong for them?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Geezzzzz......I didn't realize all you woman would take this so seriously. K like I said I know it could be wrong but I thought it was fun and because I had never heard of it I was just wondering if other mom's new about this too? Like other pregnant woman might want to get one for fun. I just found it interesting that even news shows have researched it and found it to be more accurate than 50%. But they did state that if you don't follow the directions perfectly you can get a wrong result. You have to use first morning urine and you have to swirl the solution not shake it etc. So some people that got wrong results could have been due to that...not all but some. But I'm not running out and buying boy stuff or anything, i know I need to wait until I have the ultrasound to know for sure what I'm having. So those of you who told me don't bet on it.....I'm not. Don't worry.

Unless you are peeing out chromosomes from the fetus (impossible) then have fun with it but don't bet the farm on it.

I have not used this test but one thing I found to work (believe it or not) was the ring on the string thing, I have three kids and one on the way and all four of them turned out the ring test was accurate. I also learned with this last child to try the Chinese calendar to check for the sex of the baby. Basically you look up the month and year of conception and the month and year the baby is due and it determines the sex. It was accurate for all 4 of my kids as well. Supposedly it has a 98% accuracy rate. I say try all the tests and see what you get. It is pretty fun.

Small things I noticed with my kids also were what I wanted to eat, it was protein with the boys and sugars with the girls. I was also more nauseated with the girls and my tummy went out and higher with the girls and wider and lower with the boys.

Just remember just 8 short weeks and you can find out by ultrasound. = )

Enjoy!

I have a feeling that if urine tests were able to determine the gender of a baby, doctors would be offering them in their offices....they could bill the patients/insurance for it, so they'd be leaving money on the table. If your doc is not offering a test, it probably is because it doesn't work.

My sister and I both did this test with our pregnancies. It said boy for her at 14 weeks and she had a boy. It said girl for me at 12 weeks and I had a girl. It was just for fun for both of us but it was fun to have a guess ahead of the ultrasound. My ultrasound tech said every patient who told her they took the intelligender test had accurate results.

Well either way its a 50/50 chance that its right. I would just wait til 20 weeks and find out via ultrasound to be exact.

I did it just for fun too! When I took it I was somewhere around 28 weeks prego. But it said girl and that's what I got! When I had my ultrasound we could not get an accurate view of the babys male/ female area. And I was so desperate to get an idea of what I was carrying. I still didn't get my hopes up but was very pleased to know it was correct. Good Luck! And congrats!

I have a friend who's said she was having a boy. Ultrasound says "all girl". I think it's a waste of money.

We used it for fun. It said boy, we had a boy! I think there is also some data out there that shows it is more correct with predicting one sex versus the other.

I know one person who did it and it was right and one who did it and it was wrong. That is about the same odds as guessing...

The ones that I have seen say on the box, this is for fun, not guaranteed to be accurate.

I didn't personally use one. A few friends have and none of them were right.

Well even ultrasounds are not 100% depending.
I would not rely on it 100%.
