Holistic/alternative Dr in Round Rock/austin /Cedar Park Needed for 4 Year Old

My 4 year old was hit extremely hard last year with severe sinus problems. Unfortunately, regular medicine had very little to offer and she suffered horribly for almost 7 months. This year it has started again and the nasonex, saline spray, and anithistimine aren't working. We will see the ear nose throat doctor wednesday, but if it is like last year, they will suggest 20 days of antibiotics and nothing else. I'm looking to help her with something holistic. I have no idea what to do or where to go. Any names of healers or alternative ideas are welcome!

What can I do next?

I have a son who is 14 and has CHARGE Syndrome who fights with chronic sinus infections. That is we did fight with these. We did all the rounds of antibiotics for three weeks at a time, he had two sinus surgeries, and still nothing seemed to help.

Then I found Tea Tree Oil, most specifically, Melaleuca Oil which I buy from Melaleuca.com. Melaleuca only provides the highest quality, medicinal tea tree oil. It works great for my son. We went from being on antibiotics every other month for 3 - 4 weeks at a time to needing antibiotics about 2 or 3 times a YEAR! No kidding. I love this stuff and won't live without it! I even used on it on my sinus infection and it was gone the very next day!

If you want more information, just contact me.

Hi Lynne,

I can recommend Nannette Pavlova, a licensed homeopathic practicioner (who is on the Mamasource list) or a woman named Ann who works at the People's Pharmcy on 620 and 183.

Ann is also a licensed hoempath and she will give you some short term adivce for free in the store- otherwise, you need to make a consultattion with her (which in your case you should do since this is a yearly/chronic problem).

Homeopathy is EXCELLENT for treating allergies and really most any medical condition out there. Cildren respond very quickly to rememdies and will never fight you on taking them as they taste like itty bitty sugar pellets.

Call People's Pharmacy here at the 620/183 location and ask to speak with the homeopath who works there. They will make sure you get a chance to talk with her or set up an appoitment.

God luck!

Dr. Jeff Swanson is a chiropractor in Cedar Park and does amazing work with children. He can really help with the sinus issues. He helped my son with ear infections. He also can suggest some homeopathic things you can take to help. He is also our neighbor and a Dad so I trust him completely with our children. Good Luck.

My daughter was on antibiotics every 6-8 weeks for a chronic sinus infection between age 11 and 23 months... Allergy medication didn't do anything. Oh and all the running around for x-rays on her sinus cavity... reoccurring eye infections... ear infections... I'm sure you know this drill... Thing that turned the tide was a nasal sinus rinse. It was prescribed by her ENT. At first I had to dissolve a antibiotic creme in salt water. But now, we just do it with salt water (boiled for sterility, then cooled).

Perhaps you can familiarize yourself with Neilmed's pediatric sinus rinse kits: http://www.neilmed.com/usa/products.php

It comes with a squirt bottle for the solution and another product of salt packets. (I will add that doing a nasal rinse on a small child is controversial since there's a risk of water in the lungs. As I said, we were prescribed this method under doctor's care... Something to mention at your ENT visit?)

The sinus rinses have made a **world** of difference. Huge improvement! She had to go on 1 antibiotic this past summer for congestion that developed into brochiolitis, but besides that we've managed to keep the oral antibiotics away since March-08... Of course, I have to give candy rewards for her cooperation with "booboo's in the nose"... (She hates it! Makes you feel like you're doing some waterboard torture on your child! ugh, it sucks...) And its a 2 parent endeavor (one to help position the head, the other to squirt). We do it every time I notice congestion starting to buil/runny nose (when its clear, I don't wait or it to turn colors).

We had a recent development of an ear infection from her congestion, but with daily sinus rinses, non-oral ear drop antibiotics, and eye drops, we were able to avoid oral antibiotics...

Let me know if you need more info. (I feel your pain!)

I would suggest calling or going in to Peoples Pharmacy and getting some recommendations. They are at the south west corner of 620 and 183.
