I wouldn't feel obligated to buy her dance teacher a gift. But if you want to I would keep it inexpensive. Some ideas: holiday ornaments, comfortable slippers or peppermint foot lotion. Your daughter could make ornaments. There are a lot of cute craft kits out right now.

I think holiday gifts for a dance teacher is a bit extreem. I think gift giving gets way out of hand. When you give to everyone, it does not mean as much. Give from your heart to the people you love and care about. I don't feel it necessary to give to someone you hardly know. good luck

Hi B.!! Well, as a Mom who has been through 7 years of dance with two of my daughters I can say YES you should get your dance teachers a little something for Christmas. I usually went for anything "dancey" like little figurines, and unusual picture or poster, costume jewerly (the inexpesive stuff) a card with something homemade from your daughter is also really nice. Don't go overboard and I usually never spent more than $15-20. Gifts aren't required, but they are appreciated by the teachers espically if you go to a good studio that you plan on staying with for a while.

FYI don't stop going if your daughter doesn't "do" any dancing at the recitals for the first year or two. It takes a while for some kids to warm up to performing. My youngest actually stoped and yawned in the middle of her little christmas show the first year...it was soo funny!! But let me tell you that changes in a hurry if you stick with it. Also dance give kids an appreciation for movement, music and their bodies. It also teaches them focus...almost every girl that graduates out of the studio we used to attend is in the top 10 of their high school class!! Have fun!!

I could see giving gifts to a daycare teacher who your child spends a great deal of time with but I don't think I would give a gift to her dance teacher. Just my personal opinion.

Hi B.,
My daughter took dance for two years and one year I bought her a candle and the other year we the mothers all put in $5.00 and got her a gift card to target. It doesn't have to be a big gift but something small thanking her for teaching your daughter. Good luck with your decision and Happy Holidays. R.

I have found that I absolutely love the dollar store for teacher gifts. They usually have a great selection of candles and accessories. I know if it was me, I'd rather have a nice set of candles and stuff like that instead of the usual teacher gifts.

I would give a gift if you are close to her. You do not have to give a gift to anyone you don't wnat to. I worked in day care years ago and it was awkard getting gifts from people who I didn't know, sometimes parents feel obligated to give a gift. If you do I wouold give something small like hand lotions or have your child make a picture or go with a hand made gift grom the child.
