High Fever and Nothing Else

Hi moms

so for the past 36 hours my 13 month old has been running a fever that has ranged from 101.5 to 103.7. she is maybe a little crabby and wants her mom a bit more than usual, and hasn't had a poop since yesterday morning (which is unusual) but aside from that has no other symptoms. anyone else ever had this experience?

thanks!

What can I do next?

If she comes up with a rash in a few days, I'd say it's roseola. It's a virus, and it'd go away on its own. Otherwise, I'd say she has a sore throat. My little boy had both with no other symptoms besides a fever. I hope she feels better.

My vote is for roseolla...both my kids have had that...high fever, no other symptoms until finally a few days later they get a rash. Once they get the rash, they are no longer contagious. THe rash doesn't bother them at all.

Hope she feels better soon.

I'd take her in to the pediatrician. One time my daughter had a fever like that but no other symptoms, no coughing or sneezing, eating fine, playing fine but I took her in to the doctor anyway. Turns out she had strep. No way I would have caught that without taking her in.

Yes, I would call doctor tomorrow and take her in. It is a high temperature. My son ended up with nothing, he just tends to get fevers here and there. However, they told me to bring him in when it is high.

In my case it has been a viral infection with my kids Usually nothing to worry about. However mommy knows best. You can call the dr or go to an urgent care and get your child checked.

My daughter had that a couple weeks ago (she is 15 months). It ended up being roseola which is a virus that you can't do anything about. If she breaks out in a rash in another day or so, you will know that is what it was. The rash is a good sign and her temp should go down once you see it. The rash is not uncomfortable for them and should only last 1-2 days.

Around 8 months my baby had a high fever (almost 104) with no other symptoms for about 24 hrs before we took her in. The doctor guessed that it was Roseola but unfortunately with this, you can't be sure until the fever breaks usually after 2-3 days and a rash develops. It's harmless and the rash clears on it's on in about a week, but in the meantime it's freaky not knowing why the high fever. She also had to have blood and urine taken (by catheter) to make sure it was a UTI and thankfully everything was fine. Roseola is contagious and common among babies around that age. Once I knew what it was, it seemed like every mom I talked to had experienced it or heard of it.

It could be Roseola, a virus, which causes a high fever and then when the fever breaks after a few days, usually a rash develops all over the body. My Dr. said just monitor fever...??? Good luck!

Sounds like teething. Teething can involve the intestines like that.

My oldest son used to get HIGH fevers when he teethed, with no other symptoms....and then 4 teeth would pop in. His highest was 106 and 40 hours later, he was fine and there was 4 teeth. I never bring a fever down, as it's his body fighting this properly, but at 106, we did undress him and leave him in just a diaper and had him sleep with us, so I could monitor him.
