Kristen has already given you a good answer for this time around, but I just wanted to give you an idea for next time. I always called a pharmacist, and there are some 24 hour phamacies where they can check for you at any time of day. They will tell you exactly which formulas are safe and which aren't. I found them to be much more knowledgable than my OB or my pediatrician once I was nursing. They are all just looking it up on the same system, but the pharmacist is just more familiar with all the chemical names.
Neti Pots or Sinus Rinses might help you a lot too. Hope you feel better!

I don't know if that's the same. A lot of times medication w/brand names have several different versions -which I found out after takng Claritin D and feeling miserable having taken Claritin many times successfully. I would ask a pharmacist.

If your nose is just runny... (not congested) its actually just best to let it run... its the body's way of processing the cold... getting it out.
If it is congested/sinus.. use a saline nose spray. That's safe.
Or, use a "neti pot" nasal flush. You can find it at any drug store, Whole Foods, Long's etc.
For a sore throat: gargle with warm salt water several times a day. It kills the germs in there and helps the severity of a head cold too.
good luck,
Susan

I'm not sure about them being the same ('Allergy' might have some more ingredients than regular 'Benadryl'), but I DO know that after having a baby, if you're nursing/breastfeeding, you do NOT want to take any 'anti-histamines'. They dry up your milk -- which is produced by 'sinuses' similar to those in your head!

Hi C, I work at an OBGYN office, an this is what we are told to tell our patients...the only Benadryl that is safe is plain regular Benadryl...you can also try plain Sudafed, and regular or extra strenght Tylenol is also safe...increase your vitamin C intake as well. Hope you feel better!

You have to ask the doctor these questions instead of other moms, C.. At least ask the pharmacist, though he or she might want you to hear from the doctor.
