Hemorrhoids Help!
Ok so I first got them when I was pregnant with my first child and currently I am 5 months pregnant with my second and they are worse this time around. Has anyone tried any product that actually worked with the burning and itching?? HELP!
So What Happened?™
Thanks to the well wishers on #2!! I have tried Prep-H which in my opinion SUCKS! I have the tucks cream, but bought the medicated pads with Witch Hazel, they seem to be helping for now. I am going to see how it goes and if it does get worse I will call my OB for "the good stuff". Thank you so much for sharing your butt issues too!!!

Hi C....
First of all, congrats on #2! Second, I feel your pain! :-) I'm currently 28 weeks pg with #4 and thankfully haven't had too much trouble, but it usually comes after delivery! I have found that Prep H is useless and a waste of money. I have had the most success with Tucks pads (put one or 2 on overnight) and great success with Anusol (sp?). You can get it OTC in a lower "dose" or by perscription. Anusol is definately the best, but Tucks are cheaper. The generic one from Walmart are just as good as the brand name. Tylenol can help take the edge off, too. Hope this helps!

I just ended up switching to a super high fiber breakfast during my pregnancy. Just about every morning for the last 4 months of the preg. I ate a bowl of steel-cut oats with salt and butter, followed by a bowl of plain yogurt topped with flax seed, wheat germ, pecans, and stewed fruit (usually prunes, apricots, and crasins, cooked in some water with a cinnimon stick thrown in for good measure). It was really good and kept things moving - which kept the hemorrhoids away. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!!

Definitely call your ob. The prescription stuff works great, and the OTC stuff does nothing.

Congrats on your second and so sorry about the pain in the... I really never found anything that worked fully, tucks did take the edge off. Sitz baths (hard with a toddler runnning around) also made me much more comfortable. The thing that worked the best was adding flax seed to my morning cereal and eating a ton of fiber. It kept everthing moving easier so there was less flare ups. My midwife felt bad for me but said only time would really help! Good luck,
M.

If you can find it at the store then buy a tube of Tronolane, works really well. Any kind of witch hazel pads will help. I also used the Prep H icy type of gel with good success. Hope they clear up for you and good luck with your second one!

Yes, CONGRATS! I've never had them, but a good friend of mine used tucks as well and said they worked great. Hope that helps (sometimes hearing from more than one person helps assure you that a products really works).

I had the same problem with my first pregnancy as well and they came because I was sitting for too many hours without getting up so the pressure of the baby on my lower area caused me to get hemorrhoids. Since you are a SAHM, you can try this non-chemical remedy that my doctors gave me or I learned from the book "What to expect when you're expecting". Instead of sitting upright, lie on your side when you watch TV, etc. I found that I didn't need the creams because if I just reduced the amount of time I spent aggravating the problem, I didn't have a need for the creams or ointments.
Why did I do this you ask? Because there wasn't a cream or ointment on the shelf or that the doctor could prescribe to end the horror...and I was scratching myself until I nearly bled, and that is not good at all. Probably TMI, but it is better that you fix your habits and avoid the problem then just trying to resolve the symptoms.
Good Luck!
