I feel for you. I'm amazed that a surgeon actually removed a hemorrhoid while you are pregnant. That's crazy! In my opinion, the pain and recovery is worse than after childbirth (and that's even with taking prescription pain killers after the surgery and nothing after childbirth).
There's not much in the way of a pain killer that you can use while pregnant. I ended up in the ER during my pregnancy due to the pain from my hemorrhoids. The doctor ok'd a lidocaine injection with my OB. That definitely helped, but I never would have gotten it if I would have known that it would only last two to three hours. The pain of the injection had me screaming. They also prescribed me a topical lidocaine ointment to apply after I went home. I would ask you doctor for something like that. Definitely take a stool softener and frequently do sitz baths. Avoid going up and down steps. Make sure there is someone to take care of you so you can rest!
Hope you feel better quickly.

Hemmorhoids are bulging veins from your rectum that protrude through your anus. You can have more than one unfortunately. So even if you had one removed prior to pregnancy, you can still get them again (there are many veins down there). They do get worse and/or present themselves in pregnancy since you have a large amount of weight (baby, placenta, amniotic fluid, uterus, etc.) putting pressure on everything below (rectum, anus, vulva, legs). All you can do during pregnancy is to try to relieve the discomfort, but they will not go away during pregnancy (most recede after delivery at some point). You can do sitz baths, witch hazel (Tucks) pads, hemorrhoid ointments (with approval by your OB), colace (stool softener), increase fluid intake, increase fiber intake. If you are having too much pain, then you should see your OB-GYN ASAP & may have to be referred to a gastroenterolist or general surgeon for other options.
Hope you feel better soon!

Hi C.,
Hemorhoids can be so challenging to deal with. After surgery what helped my sister is an amazing completely natural ointment from Nature Only, "Natural Healing Aid". Within just a few days of use my sister felt a world better and it speeded healing along according to her surgeon. I use the Diaper Rash Cream from Nature Only for my kids. It's such a great cream and completely natural. I usually pick it up @ Whole foods ____@____.com. I hope this helps.

You can place Lavender essential oil directly on the area, one to two drops every hour or as often as needed. It will help to soothe, relax and heal the area.
All the best,

C., my midwife told me to get a rustic potatoes, slice it thin as if to make potato chips and put that slice on the hemmorhoid and it will go away. I haven't got a chance to do it but let me know how it goes. That is the most natural thing to do.
