Help with Unwanted Hair

This is really embarassing but I have some unwanted facial hair that pops up in my chin area and also on the side of my face out of 2 moles I have. I have been dealing with this for as long as I can remember but never this much. Ever since my 1st pregnancy the hair growth, wanted and unwanted has escaladed tremendously. The problem is the only method I have done is shaving lightly over small parts of my chin. I never had to do anything about it but I don't know if it's hormones or what but it's super noticable now. The thing is now every time I shave the area, it breaks out in pimples so it's MORE noticable. I have never waxed ( not even my eyebrows, I've done nothing to those ever ) so I'm very new to this stuff. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of the hair that is easy and hopefully won't leave zits? Thanks!

What can I do next?

I had a similar problem when I was younger and my doctor put me on birth control to help regulate my hormones. She said it was an inbalance of hormones. She also said it would not go away, but the bc would help it from getting worse. I had the same problem with ingrown hairs from plucking so I finally had laser hair removal done. It takes about 5 or 6 treatments over several years. Mine were about $100 each but if you buy a package soemwhere you might get it cheaper. I still get a few here and there but it much more bearable now. The laser only works on dark hairs though.

Dear C.,

I usually use a tweezers to pluck any hairs off of my face so they come out at the root. This lasts a lot longer without any irritation.

Hope that helps!

Hello,
I use a mens Norelco electric shaver on my chin and it works great. I don't break out at all and it is painless. I usually go over it every other day or even every day if i feel like it. I have a beauty mark on my cheek that I pluck the hairs out with a tweezers. It doesn't hurt.
Good Luck with what ever you decide.

Pluck them. If you only have a few, that is what I suggest. Then make sure to keep an eye out for their return.

You are not alone! I usually tweeze the few I get. If you have many, you may want to talk to your OB/GYN. People with PCOS tend to have a hair issue. I have PCOS, but don't have the hair issue. You may have too much testosterone (sp?) and I think it can be tweaked with specific medications. If you aren't sure, google PCOS and facial hair and compare.

Good luck!

I wax frequently and rarely have a problem with zits. Most kits will come with oil or lotion you apply to remove any wax residue, then I wash my face with oil-removing cleanser to make sure the pores are not clogged.

Thanks to PCOS, I also have some unruly facial hair. I've tried many methods, and what has worked best for me is waxing. I'd like to try laser at some point, but I just don't want to fork out the money for it right now.

Anyway, I invested in a really nice salon-quality wax system- purchased at a Beauty Brands type of store. The cost is equivalent to about 3 visits to the salon, and will last MUCH longer. I've had mine for about 5 years and it's not even halfway gone yet! I always use a good wax remover, then I wash my face thouroughly and finish up with some acne control astringent, and that seems to fend off the pimples.

I had a few thick single black hairs pop up here and there when I was pregnant- never had any issues with hair before these 5 "wild hairs", and they are a different color and texture than any other hair I have. They still come in even though my son is 18 months, in the same spots [one on my jawline, one on my right shoulder, two outside of my right nipple and one outside of my left nipple] and I am able to pluck them as soon as I notice they come back. Just wanted to let you know you are not the only one who has had weird hair issues after having kids. I do think it is from hormones. Your best bet is waxing, and it is totally worth it to have it professionally done if you can afford it.
