Help with Husband with "Epilepsy"

Hi,
I would like to know if anybody is dealing with a family or friend with epilepsy. I need some advise. I didn't know my husband suffer from epilepsy until 2 years ago, when he had one seizure. He didn' tell me before because he only have it when he was 17, now he is 37 (without seizure for 20 years). The seizure only occurr when he is sleeping.
I am very nervious and paranoic, I can't sleep the same way as before because If he move I think he'll have a seizure. He wasn't taking his medication correctly and sometimes was driking. Now he is taking the medication, but I am still very nervious and tired.

Please let me know if you know about any group that can help me dealing with this.

You can find a group through epilepsy foundation. They hold meetings all over.

There is a graet book called Epilepsy a Parent and Family Guide by Orrin Devinsky. Definitely check out the Epilepsy Foundation.

Try not to worry that he will have a seizure, just make sure he doesn't fall off the bed and don't put anything in his mouth. If you can, time the seizure and write down the type of seizure - was he jerking? Was he stiff? This will help the Doctor. Stress is a trigger so try and help him realx before he goes to sleep especialy if he is going through a difficult time in his life. It will be OK!! Your support and understanding will be very helpful to him.

Hi M.!
I work with a group of doctors that specialize in epilepsy. We have offices all over the tri-state area. Where do you live? Also, I am the Case Manager for the practice and I provide services and conduct a support group for individuals and caregivers who have epilepsy. I would be happy to speak with you, answer any questions, or just listen. Please feel free to contact me at: ###-###-####. My name is D. Brace. I hope to hear from you soon!

Can you do a little research online and find out more about epilepsy, especially what to do if he has a seizure? You seem very afraid of it and more information would probably help you put things in perspective. Maybe you could even ask your questions to your husband's doctor (I am guessing he sees a neurologist for medication). I have known a few people with epilepsy including one close friend. She had some trouble controlling the seizures and did not drive but otherwise had a pretty normal life. She said stress and lack of sleep tended to make her seizures worse and when she kept a regular schedule she did better.
