Does anyone have any advice on cleaning tile floors? I've been using a Swiffer, but it doesn't get the grime out that's deep down in the cracks. Is there a machine out there that someone would recommend?

Thank you!

Depending on how much tile you have you can have it professionally cleaned. We did this when we lived in a house that had lots of tile a few yrs bk b4 we put it up for sale. With only 1 "pretty clean" kid and a dog we were stunned at the amount of dirt and grime that came off the ceramic tile and grout, it was was incredible cleaned and looked brand new. THey used a special floor buffer type machine that sprayed very hot water w/ a cleaning solution. In the 2nd step the guy went bk over the tiles with the machine and it sucked up all the nasty water. Can't remember what we paid 5 yrs ago, to have 2/3 rds of house done, but it was worth it. To think we lived in the house for 7 yrs and I cleaned it with a wet Swiffer Mop weekly, I thought it looked pretty clean except for the grout. The tile looked awesome and house sold fast. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. I have light tile floors and light grout in the kitchen. The best thing that works at removing the dingy look is Magic Erasers!!!! I got the heavy duty kind and went to town!!! My husband and I couldn't believe how much our grout lightened up!! After that I did wash my floors with a small cap of pinesol and warm water. Try it, you'll be amazed!!!

I don't know about tile floor but we have that vinyl flooring in parts of our house. I use the steam mop and it is wonderful. It sanitizes as it cleans the dirt.

I use hot water, Murphy's Oil Soap and wipe up my tile with a clean soft cloth rag. You can only Swiffer so much! lol It's my belief that if you want your floors really clean, you gotta get down on your hands and knees.

I just figured ths out on my own last week. It's safe natural and most people have it in their home. Make a paste out of bakng soda and water, not too thin and not too thick. Brush on with a some what stiff brush on the grout. Amazing!

I agree with the other. Once a month I have to clean my tile floors on my hands and knees.

I use soft scrub, tile brush and bucket of warm water.

Folded towel under my knees and work in small sections.

If you want a machine, I would suggest a steam cleaner/mop. However, I suggest you check out Tough & Tender (and if you need a little extra power Sol-U-Mel). Cleaner is effective and what makes it even better is that they are non-toxic...safer for your home and family.

On hands an knees... is the best,
Use vinegar.
Swiffer, to me, leaves a residue. Which then attracts more grime.

Ugh I agree with Denise. I got on my hands and knees with my tile floor recently to clean. I used a combo of Sol U Mel and Melamagic and it worked great. I will use the mixture and and dip dry clothes and do the swifter. My other way that I like to clean is steam clean, but I broke my steam cleaner.

I use my Shaklee cleaners and it does a great job. Non-toxic and the best cleaner I have ever used.......for about 1000 things! I just use a good old fashioned mop and on occasion a shark.
