For the past 5 years everywhere my hair has touched my skin breaks out. I am always itchy and so some of the break outs have turned into scars. I need help I wont even go to the mail box if i don't have makeup on. I have become so self consoius about my skin I don't even look at people when talking to them. I constatly try to hide my face with my hair. I am crying about it all the time because I don't feel pretty and My son is always telling me I am but I can see in the mirror I just need help. It not that bad but the few that are on my face are yukky. I have themon my arms so even in the summer I will wear a long sleave shirt to cover my arms.
So if there is anyone that can help me cover my blemishes I would really appreciate it.
____@____.com
I just want to be able to hold my head up with confidence that my skin dosen't look hideous.

M., I'v had a similar problem and I had two doctors state that I have a form of adult onset acne which results in mini staf infections on my body. I was instructed to take a prescription acne medication (a mild antibiotic) and to wash my body with an antibacterial soap like Dial everyday. You don't, however, want to overdry your skin -- especially on your face -- or you'll break out even more. I would also recommend making sure that you don't put any products on your hair that can cause greasiness on your face and be sure to keep it washed at least every other day. I use a very mild face wash on my face because the breakouts are also due to having sensitive skin. I also tend to touch my skin and pick at blemishes which only worsens the problem so try to be aware of how much you're touching your skin. And remember, that any major changes you make to your skincare regime won't really be visible for a couple of weeks. Finally, using a green cover up stick on red blemishes works well because red and green are opposing colors. You will still need to add a skin-toned color on top, though. I hope that something in this email helps you because I know how devastating this problem can feel.

I have recently started having major problems with blemishes and have done quite a bit of research on products that might be of some help (especially because I'm disinclined to bother with makeup). One really useful site that I found was www.cosmeticcop.com. Paula Begouin started out as a consumer advocate who has researched a lot of the skin care and make up products out there in an attempt to inform consumers about what works and what doesn't. She wrote a book "Don't Go to the Cosmetic Counter Without Me" that discusses what makes a good product and offers her opinions of products out there based on her research. You might be able to get it at the library. She also has some reviews (although far less) available on the website. She also has her own line of products available through the web site. I was impressed by the thoroughness of the information that she presents so I decided to try some of her products and I've noticed a difference, although I'm still working out what is the best combination of products for my skin. It might take a little experimentation, and be sure to give the products a few weeks before you make any judgements, but you might be able to find something that works for you. The general consensus is that you need a beta hydroxy acid product for exfoliation of the pores (but make sure it has the proper pH) and a benzoyl peroxide product to disinfect. If you don't have any luck finding something that works for you, you should really see a dermatologist.

As far as the blemishes on your arms, are they small red bumps? If so you might have Keratosis pilaris which is actually a very common genetic problem. There is no known cure for this but some treatment options are avaialble which you should be able to find by doing a google search. I also found something that mentions bacterial folliculitis which can manifest itself as pimple-like bumps, in which case you need antibiotics. Do a google search on it and see if it matches your symptoms and then decided how to proceed.

Hi there. Go to the derma. I have suffered with acne for years. Finally The Derma gave me minocycline antibiotic. I was on it for 6 months. It helped tremendously. For the mean time, use Bare minerals makeup. It is soft, and not oily, it covers up blemishes like a dream, really. Also, I started using Brevoxyl 10% face wash. You can get it at walgreens. it is in a bard form, which is great for body acne. It is ten dollars, and last a couple of months!

Single mother working in the customer service field?!? STRESS!!! I used to use (and sell) Mary Kay's timewise and even velocity and they worked great until I moved to AZ... then it made my acne TERRIBLE.. When I was pregnant Dr Murad's line worked well.. until I had my son. I tried clinique (didn't work AT ALL) the only thing that has really really worked for me is Proactive. It does burn a little bit (which probably only means I'm using too much of the medicine), and at first it really dried my skin, but my face has never been clearer.. if a little discomfort to mild pain is worth a clear face for you, like it is for me, go for Proactive. I still get little pimples, but NOTHING like I used to. I also have been using bare minerals for a couple of years now, and I like that, too. Good luck!

I'm so sorry to hear about your problem. I can sympathize. I'm 28 and had never had a skin problem....Then over the past couple of yrs it went from an occasional breakout to a constant battle. It was a terrifying thought to leave the house without massivly covering my face with layers of makeup. What I found as a makeup that works was BARE MINERALS. You can use the brand name stuff, or the new bare naturalle(less expensive and still good) in the supermarkets. It works great too and doesn't irritate or look like you have a second or third skin on your face. Also I went to the doctor finally, my regular doc not a dermatologist, and she gave me a script for ERYTHROMYCIN-BENZOYL-PEROXIDE TOPICAL GEL treatment. It's a soothing and wonderful cream u keep refrigerated and use 2 times a day. It works soooooo quickly. I hope you'll try this. After almost 2 yrs of suffering this was a wonderful treatment, easy, and it worked. Good luck. Aimee

Hi M.! Sorry to hear about your skin issue. This sounds like it started happening to you after childbirth so it is probably hormone related. Have you talked to your doctor about this? Hormones do crazy things to your body and maybe some sort of supplement would help you. You might want to start with your OB/GYN but probably a dermotologist would be more helpful. Good luck!

I sell Mary Kay and we have some acne treatment stuff. I honestly haven't tried it, though, because I am blessed with good skin. We have good suff to cover blemeshes, but I would say you really need to get to the root of the problem. Have you thought about going to a natropathic Dr. to see why it is happening? I recommend Dr. Kail. I can get you his info if you want it.
