Help with a Middle Name! - Cortland,IL

i was thinking Peyton Renee.
ya, PMS might be kinda tough for when the kid is a little older. initials SHOULDN'T matter, but kids are kids and they may or may not pick on them.

I have to agree, I would not like PMS as my initials. I write my initials at work everyday. I also like Lee, but for a girl you can spell it Leigh and it's beautiful. I do also like the idea of a J name with the nickname of pj, that's cute. Good luck and congratulations!

I would avoid the PMS initials. Everytime she hears or sees or thinks of her initials she'll be reminded of her monthly visitor. I personally wouldn't want those initials. Sorry!!

I like Lee. My dad's middle name, my middle name, and my oldest son's middle name is Lee. It works for a boy or a girl and it sounds good with a lot of names! I also agree with watching the initials. I'm a teacher and in elementary school kids are aware of their and other people's initials, and anything odd, funny, etc. will be called out. You would be surprised at how much young kids know, so, yes, even in elementary school there will be kids who know what pms is.

What about Peyton Rae? I think that is pretty. I would avoid the initials PMS if possible. You never know. Kids can be cruel sometimes :) Goodluck!

who cares about the initials....I think Peyton Michelle is a beautiful name. Maybe your "friends" need to get over highschool and find something that is actually worth worrying about. That's ridiculous.

Don't give your child the initials P.M.S!!!! Kids are mean. Middle school is hard enough. :)

I use my initials a lot at work. It's part of my job. I would avoid initials PMS if you can. I think she would get comments well beyond childhood on that one. I agree with a pp poster that initials PJ are cute or something really feminine to balance out the name. Here are some:

I agree with all the other posters...try to steer clear of PMS. Imagine your driving in the car one day with your daughter after you pick her up from school..and she is crying saying the kids were making fun of her initials...it will happen. Kids can totally be mean..and it sucks, but it's life. So don't give them a reason.

If there is someone special in your life, a sister, best friend, favorite aunt etc. I would totally try to use one their first, middle names. I am old-fashioned I quess I think it is so nice to name your children after special people in your life. I think they enjoy it too. There is a story to their name before they are even born..which is kind of cool. They will have an instant bond with that person too...it is a special thing. Both of my boys middles names are their grandfather's middle names too. It made both grandfather's feel sooo good and my kids are always talking about it to others..they are 4 and 6 years old. Sorry, it is a beautiful name, but I have to agree that it would be really tough for me to have those initials. I sign my initials to things throughout the day, and I'd be embarrassed to write "PMS" on documents. How about something that starts with J since your name is J.? Like June, Jane, Jude- something cute and one-syllable goes well with Peyton. And her nickname could be "pj", which is super cute for a little girl. Or a flower name, like Rose. Peyton Rose sounds lovely, too. Congratulations!!!

PMS would not be good, it would haunt her for a long, long time, down to her husband later when she's cranky. I wouldn't do that, what about flipping the names around? You could call her Payton anyway, lots of people go by their middle names.

ps, I never find out the gender because we get so few good surprises, enjoy the anticipation. All you really need is one boy outfit, one girl outfit, some neutral jammies and a car seat when they're born. You want your equipment generic anyway because you may have more & won't be guaranteed to have the same. :) Have FUN!

Some of our friends have picked 2 middle names for their kids. You could call her, for example Peyton [Zoe] Michelle [Smith]. Later if she wants to shorten it she can pick one or the other. (my legal name has two middles - I took my maiden as a second middle - and no one's ever argued with me about which one on the "middle initial" line.)

I teach 2nd grade and initials never come up. I'm sure it will be fine, but I theink the PP made a good point about her being older and using her initials at work. But I guess I didn't think of that since my son's initials are PEE:)

My opinion: don't use M on purpose--now that you're sensitized. Do her a favor and pick something else. You have 23 other letters to choose from (since I don't recommend using O or I either).

I don't think initals are that important. But with initals like that and idiot future boyfriend might say something. I always liked the name Elizabeth. But it's all up to you and your husband. Maybe have him look through names and write down his favs and you do the same. Then see which are the same. That's how my husband and I came up with our daughter's name.

As a former teacher...I think initials are important "to kids." To us as adults it's no big deal, but to kids when they are being made fun of it's HUGE. I would have to agree with your friends (sorry). How about Peyton Lynn? Good luck and congrats! :)

Congrats on your coming baby! My grandparents gave my mother a name that resulted in the initials PMS. She only experienced a few episodes of slight teasing, and they were usually good natured. It must not have been that terrible, as when she got married to my dad, her new surname also started with an S. My mother jokes that she has had lifelong PMS and it has always been her humorous scapegoat for when she loses her temper.

I don't think it is a big deal and think that it sounds pretty cute together! (But, then again, maybe kids today are more aware of such things as PMS, and they MIGHT be more inclined to taunt than they would have back in the 50s.)

Sorry, but I don't think I would want PMS or my child to have those initials. I know it seems silly, but it is a bit weird to many people.

I agree with your friends - I wouldn't want the initials PMS and I wouldn't ever give my child those initials.

Do you have a family maiden name or surname that you can use as the middle name? In some areas of the US it is customary to give a mother's or maternal grandmother's maiden name as the middle name, thus carrying on a family name.
