Has anyone experienced the curse of the vole? They are making trails all through my once beautiful lawn and I don't know how to get rid of them. I was told by a Home Depot guy to put Moth Balls down the holes but that didn't work...anybody??? They are moving on to my backyard now!

What can I do next?

You can buy fox urine at a lawn and garden store. It is smelly but it will keep the voles and bunnies away. The fox is a predator to small animals so they stay away out of fear. You can also use hot pepper.

is that moles? If so, we used a combination of black pepper and cayenne pepper and it worked. You just have to do it about once a month.

I hate voles! We had a real problem with them at our old house. I tried moth balls, gum in the holes, etc. and it didn't work. The only thing I found that worked is to spray with a hose this stuff called "Whole Control". It is in a white container that you attach to your hose, and I found mine at a local garden store. It specifically says voles on it, which is hard to find. It has no poisons, so is safe for kids/pets being around. You spray this on your yard (we only had to do it once to my amazement), but we did it twice a year because what happened is they moved to the neighbors yard (sorry!). So, we did it every year as long as we saw them nearby. Also, you should put down that anti-bug stuff on your lawn (looks like fertilizer) since this kills their food. Also, in the winter (your last cut of the year), make sure you keep your lawn really short, as they like to live in lawns with higher grasses over the winter. Good luck!

Our neighbors and we had voles - twice.

This last time I put just a mouse trap down in the main trail and snap! There was only one.

Our neighbors called an exterminator and he used poisons...

The hardware store is a good source of options and info. Also, look online.

Good luck!

We haven't fought voles, but we have fought their relations, the ground squirrel/chipmunk. They were burrowing under our concrete and our planting beds and causing severe issues. We ended up hiring a trapper and got rid of them. Two years and no more have moved in, thank goodness. If you want the name/number of the trapper, let me know. Good luck!
