Every party I've ever had and/or planned have been more fun at home... That's just my opinion. You can do a theme party and make it all up yourself. Outside you are more limited to what you can do. Themes are fun from clothing guests have to wear (even just all a certain color, or costumes, or from a certain year, etc) to the food, and music, and decorations, you can go as all out as you want and cost very little money! Hawaiian is always fun!
Just a thought, good luck! It will be fun whatever you chose! I went to a 30 year old party at chucky cheese before. The guy just wanted to feel like a kid again, so he did! If that's too much for you, then you could do the same thing at a bowling alley where they can play the games and stuff...

Is he a sports type of guy? Maybe box seat tickets to a Ranger's Game would be fun.

What kind of places do you and your husband like to go to have fun? Do you want dinner, dancing, games? Off the top of my head, I thought of Dave & Busters, or the Medieval Times tournament/restaurant, but those are a little farther than Lewisville/Flower Mound or Grapevine. In Grapevine specifically, the Gaylord Texan Resort has a nightclub next to it called the Glass Cactus...www.glasscactusnightclub.com
I've never been there, but on their website it says they also serve food and they can plan special events like birthday parties, etc.
I hope any of these suggestions can help. Good luck and congrats to your husband! Wish I were 30 again!

What type of place do you want to have it at? Restaurant? Bar? Winery? I've got suggestions, but it depends on what type of party you're looking to have...

I haven done events at the Movie Tarvern in Denton but I think the Studio Movie Grill on 35 in L-ville is the same thing - It was easy to get my hubby there (told him it was just us dinner and a movie) went to the bar and had a drink before the movie then all his buddies starting showing up - He LOVED it and is was super easy on my part! :-) Have fun!

We attended a surprise party for a friend a few weeks ago. The party was a casino night held at a friend's house and the birthday boy had no idea what he walking into. Of course, you have to have a good friend to open their house for a party.
