Help! Scorch Marks on Marble Countertop

My son left a flat-iron on the bathroom counter and it now has scorch marks. I've tried cleaning it and didn't have a lot of success. Does anyone know if it's possible to get rid of the ugly marks on my white marble countertop?

Thank you for your help! We used Magic Eraser & Barkeepers friend with a little elbow grease (my sons) & it looks tons better than it did. There are just 2 fairly light lines left on the countertop...not perfect, but I can live with it for now. :)

Sorry to say, but you can't clean a burn- it's damaged, not dirty.

Check with the marble dept. sales reps. at Lowe's or Home Depot, but I think if it's real marble, then it's marble all the way through.. which means you can sand it out and then buff (polish) it back to shiny. Good Luck!

depends on if it is faux marble or the real stuff....it will come out of faux - I used to do it for a company...years ago

Those Mr. Clean sponges that are soft and white removed damage from a small fire I had on my white formica counter top. All the black and brown burn marks are gone :)

I don't know if this would help you but,,,, I have a solid white glass cooktop... needless to say, I put in a lot of sweat equity to keep it white, most especially when I use my cast iron pots.

I use Cerama-Bryte and the little yellow Cerama-Bryte cleaning pads, both found at Home Depot.

I use these EVERYTIME I use my cooktop and it stays looking brand new. I have worried because I get some ugly cooked on stuff but I just scrub it off with these.

This product can be used on marble as well. Good luck

The only way to fix it would be to hire a professional stone person/company. Your marble will need to be polished down below the damage. If our company has any problems we use Bruce with Bruce's Stone Specialists. He does a great job for a fair price.
