I have had a csection as well with pain 10 1/2 months ago and they tell me that it takes about a year to recover from a csection.

Hi L., I'm very sorry you're having such a hard time since your c-section. I also had some trouble, although not for as long as you, but if your OBGYN hasn't been able to help, I'd like to give you the name and # of mine, he's an angel! Dr. Chad Simmons ###-###-####. His office is at Medical City, Dallas. Good Luck.

Not sure where your pain is located / type of pain, etc. I had an unplanned c-section a little over 2 years ago. An area of the incision became infected and caused me great pain for a few weeks - after "healing" completely, haha, I started getting great pain in the area of the infected incision. The rest of the incision is numb, and I hav enever gotten feeling back. After many, many doctor visits, we have concluded that the pain is the result of scar tissue. This pain recently has subsided - but I contribute that to the fact that I finally lost all my belly fat.

Nothing really ever controlled the pain - my doctor prescribed typical painkillers, etc.

So without knowing your type of pain, I can't really give you advice, other than to tell you my experience - it could be just scar tissue. If you're still carrying some of the baby weight in your tummy, that could be magnifying the problem. I did find that lotion helped it not hurt so much - not sure how that worked.

No matter what, though, make sure you keep going back to your doctor - have them do ultrasounds, etc. - make sure there's not something medical going on.

Good luck - S.

Hi L.,

I'm not sure if you are having the same pain I experience, but I had a weird sensation at my c-section site until about a year after my son was born. It was so sensitive, I couldn't sleep on my stomach and I flinched if my son accidentally sat on it a certain way. I also would get red, itchy spots here and there. None of my doctors knew what caused the itchiness, but I guess the "numb" pain was normal after surgery. Some people don't have that pain for more than six months, but you may be more like me and have it for over a year. These days, it no longer is sensitive and I can put pressure on it without it hurting.

I hope that helps!

Where did you have your c-section?? What did you OBGYN say that it was?? I am a Labor and Delivery nurse. What kind of pain are you in?? If you could give a little more information I would like to help you.

I had a C section and was all healed with no problems within 4 weeks. I would definitely seek medical help for your situation. If you are looking for a good OB/GYN, I go to Dr. James Schermerhorn in east Dallas in the White Rock Lake area. He is the doctor who performed my C section. Let me know if you want his number.

Hi Lindsey,
I have had 2 c-sections and it took me approx 1 year or more each time to recover. I'm not sure exactly what it is with the nerves but as they are healing I would have little electrical sensations from time to time, even at times when the area was not even being touched ---nothing too severe though.
The worst for me was doing dishes when my belly would rub against the edge of the counter, or anything that would cause the incision area to be rubbed or even kicked by my kids when I would hold them and they were swinging their legs, and I don't mean they were being rough, just swaying their little legs---it was a very odd sensation but it eventually went away. This is how it was for me. I hope you find an answer and that your pain will go away quickly.
