Help - Missed Period While on Birth Control

Hey Guys,
Something has happened that is a first for me... I've got a call into by OB-Gyn, but I thought I'd ask here too since there's no telling how long it will take for them to call me back. I am on birth control, and at the end of my cycle never received my period. Is this normal? Has this happened to you guys? I'm 40 - could this be an early start to menopause (yikes!)
THANKS!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks everyone for you responses!! My Ob-gyn's nurse did return my call. I'm on Loestrin 24FE and she said it's very normal for me to miss a period. She said some women on this birth control method never have a period at all. Wow! There's no worry that I'm pregnant either... Last time I checked, you have to have sex for that! LOL! Everyone have a good day!

sounds liek you are about the right age for menopause. that would be my bet. however it has been proven time and time again you can get pregnant on the pill. case and point my daughter lol talk to your ob good luck!

Go get a complete physical. Rule out pregnancy first. There are other medical reasons why you could miss your period. I missed periods when I did not have enough thyroid hormone in my system and I needed to be put on thyroid medication.

Have you missed any pills?... sometimes that happens.
I guess it could be menapause but I am 47 and no where near menapause. I even had a baby at 45 yrs old.
I would have it checked out if you haven't missed any pills.

Hi A.,

I doubt that you're pregnant unless you forgot your pills a few times during the month (it doen't sound like it from your tone.) I also doubt you are going through early menopause since you have a 19 month old. This just sometimes happens when we start getting older.

The best thing you can do is start taking some vitamins,(specifically the ones with folic acid, just in case) relax about the whole thing and wait a little while to take a home pregnancy test. (Maybe you could get the two tests in one kit type so you can check a second time a week later.) Test in the morning with first-catch urine. Meanwhile, stay on the pill.

I had this happen to me many times being on the pill, by the way.

All my best,
D.

If it were me I would have to get a pregnancy test, if not pregnant, I wouldn't worry to much, but if it will calm your nerves, call the obgyn

Well, it really depends on how long u have been on birthcontrol. When i took birth control pills i had a similar side effect. but if u have been taking them for a while and this is just now happening it might be cause for concern. i had a hysterectomy last year. so its kinda hard for me to remember what it was like to have those problems.
