I can't take Benadryl for my allergies. It just doesn't work for me. I have always used Tylenol Allegy/Sinus Think they changed the name, when I couldn't fin it I would use a box of Claritin. Works great! Again for me! I know Benadryl works for some people, just not me. Try different Allergy medicines until you find one that works for you.

Pollen has been very high lately. I have allergies and have found the best medication to be Zyrtec. It is available in generic at all grocery stores and pharmacies.

Good morning:

I'm a life long allergy sufferer so I do have some ideas. The standard medication across the counter is sudafed. No RX needed, but everybody has to sign for it. It is kept behind the pharmacy. If sleep is an issue, don't take it at bedtime. Other than that, it will certainly help to control symptoms. If you go to a doctor, and I understnad you don't have insurance, there is a community clinic in Sarasota that just opened within the last year. Their purpose is to get prescription meds to persons in the community. They may even dispense non prescrition meds as well. It is worth a call to them.
Pollen is everywhere. Measure I would suggest for you is lots of dusting and damp mopping. Don't go outside anymore than you have too; however, somemtimes being at the beach helps if that is an option. I use vaseline for my nose' not pretty but it helps. New kleenexes have some with built in softness. Night and open windows at night are not usually an allergy sufferers friends. Close up the house and turn the air on. Clean the air filter faithfully. Sometimes I stand over the stove with some simmering salt water to breath I think I'm out of space.
please let me know if any of this helps. B.

You can't wait until your allergies strike- you have to prevent it for it to be completely effective. I use Nasonex every morning and night and I take a benadryl every night. I also take Claritin (generic, it's cheaper) when things act up. Once you're in the middle of the attack there's not really anything to completely rid you of the symptoms. Take Claritin every day and get a rx for nasonex.

Here's a natural cheap alternative for you that people swear by for relief of seasonal allergies... HONEY. Just take a couple of teaspoons a day.
The caveat is that it has to be RAW, LOCALLY PRODUCED honey so that the same kind of pollen that is causing your reaction is also found in the honey; a kind of self immunotherapy.
Also, recommend a neti pot to help clear out your sinuses.

I can understand, me too. Just make sure to keep all your windows in your house closed. I take Benadryl at bedtime because it just knocks me out. Claritin costs an arm and a leg, so I bought Wal-Mart's version of it. It seems to work very well. I take one first thing in the morning and it helps with my allergies all day. Then, as I said, I take Benadryl at night. If it helps me, I'm sure it will help you because I have some seriously bad allergies.

Your allergies are due to all the green-colored pollen. You can see it on automobiles.

It is pollen, the levels are crazy high right now. Try the Zrytec like everyone else has said. If not, you might have to break down and do the doctor thing. I know lots of people on the Rx nose spray.

i think what you are suffering from is what they call enviromental allergies. a lot of us suffer this time of the year, spring and fall. that is when the pollen falls and teh plants ect do their thing. my dr gives me singular,, i found for me at 65 it works great. you need to check into the suncoast health clinics they charge according to your income, there is one in plant city, dover, ruskin to name a few. they also have pharmacies on site. their phone no is ###-###-####. they have medical, dental, adult and childrens care as well a a pharmacy. good luck, J.

You can get Claritin and Zyrtec now without a prescription. Pick some up at Walgreens and give it a shot. If one of them doesn't work, try the other.

Claritin can be taken once a day and the generic is inexpensive at Target and Walmart.

Zyrtec also is a once a day treatment for allergies. It's more expensive than Claritin but there is a generic for it too.

I'm currently using a combo of Zyrtec and Singulair for my allergies. Oak pollen is my main trigger. Thank goodness the trees are almost done flowering! Singulair works really well for me, but it only available by prescription and is pricey.

I'd also recommend a Neti pot. Walgreens sells Sinucleanse neti pots in their allergy section.

If you are breastfeeding, I'd ask a doctor before using Claritin or Zyrtec.

Hope this helps and you get some relief soon,

L.

I know this may sound crazy but try 1000mg vitamin c with rosehips. After 2 sinus surgeries and losing my sense of smell someone recommended this to me. IT WORK !!! In 2 weeks I could smell again for the first time in 4 years.... Good luck. Also may want to try saline for your nose.

I was/am going through the same thing right now. It IS a cold. Benadryl will only mask the symtpoms, but will not help you feel better.

Last night I took Tylenol cold capsules and feel much better this morning. My nose stopped running and the sneezing/itchy throat has gone away almost completely. For the irritated nose, you can put some vaseline in/around your nostrils. It helps keep the skin moist and prevents the cracking that occurs when you have to constantly blow your nose.

Good luck.

You may want to google Histaminum hydrochloricum 30. It is homeopathic medicine that worked a miracle for me.
