Hi A.,

What works great with my daughter (who will be two next month)is to reward each successful pee pee with a special treat (she gets one jelly bean and a star to put on her potty chart). We started that about six weeks ago and now she'll go and doesn't necessarily need the jelly bean or star. Once they get the hang of it, you can slowly stop giving out the treats. Now, we still haven't achieved a #2 on the potty yet, but I think she's getting close (many moms have told me that this comes a bit later than going pee pee).

Good luck,
D.

Remember, she JUST turned 2. Each of my 3 girls had a lot of interest in the potty at 2, but I found that when they were 2 1/2 they were much more developmentally ready to master potty training. I would give them LOTS of fluids so that they would have to pee a lot. I kept the training potty close at hand so they could run quickly and do it by themselves. Usually, after the 1st couple successful pee's on the potty, they realized what they were supposed to do. And we'd make a BIG deal out of the success. (M&M's worked well too!) Accidents of course, will still happen in the beginning, but I stongly believe that if they are ready, and you stick with it, and monitor them constantly in the beginning to help them remember (Yes, it is a lot of work!) they will figure it out. The key is whether or not they truly are ready. Having an interest and wanting to do potty is not the only sign they are ready. Their bodies must be ready as well. Good luck!

We bought sugar-free suckers, and let our son have one, as long as he was sitting on the potty. If he got up, the sucker was gone. This encouraged him to sit there long enough to finish the sucker. So, every half hour or so, we would sit him down with his sucker. Eventually, he went. We made a huge deal about it, and gave him a Matchbox car. Then we started giving him a sucker after he went only, instead of while sitting. It worked for us. We were able to wean him off of the suckers after about a month. Since we had tried everything else, some extra junk food was a small price to pay.lol

Hi A.,
I have triplet girls that are 2 1/2 years old and its been about a week and half since I started potty training them. They really had no idea of what was going on at first. I let them pick out some cute undies and tried that first but they just went pee in them so then we did the naked thing around my kitchen and bathroom so the mess was easy to clean up and they could get the idea of when they had to go. They caught on rather quickly. At least 2 of them did the 3rd one took a little bit longer but for about the last 5 days we have not had only maybe 2 to 3 accidents total between the 3 of them. We also rewarded them. I made a huge jar full of stuff they don't normally get like suckers, hersery kisses, mini kit kats etc. except now they go in pee a little and want a treat so we have went to a couple of m&m's when they go. I am going to switch to a sticker chart soon to cut down on the candy and see how that goes. I hope this helps and good luck.

Hi A.,
I have 4 kids 1 boy 15 and three girls 9,6, and 15 months and the girls were the hardest to potty train. I don't know why but they were.I actually did'nt have my girls potty trained until they were almost three.I just kept introducing them to the potty chair everyday.I told them if they be big girls and go potty on the toilet I would get them a prize and that would always work.I just said no more pull ups one day you have to wear big girls underwear and let them pick out their own. So good luck she'll get the hang of it.....

My daughter will be two in March, so we have been working on this too. I have the exact opposite problem. When we first bought the potty, all she wanted to do was sit on it. She almost always went. Now, she wants nothing to do with it. But, during the "good" period. I tried to get her to sing songs and other fun activities while she was there. Sometimes, if you can get there minds on something else, their bodies will relax and automatically go. We liked to sing "If you're Happy and you know it....Clap Your Hands". I also let her read while she is there. I know every child is different, but I hope this will help your little princess, too!

It sounds like my daughter about two months ago and now she is almost completely potty trained. I think this is just her first phase of being ready. I would try distracting her while on the potty with a book. Also when my daughter was watching a favorite tv show (Dora ) I would take her little potty in the living room for her to sit on. That's how she finally sat still long enough and relaxed enough to pee. And like you said after that it's like she relized that was what she was supposed to be doing!!!!

Ok this may sound weird but you might want to try it anyways.

Get a cup of warm water, sit her on the potty, then pour the water on her pp slowly. It'll give her the sensation of peeing and may also insigate her to pee too. Just be careful not to leave the glass lying anywhere she can get it cause she'll probably try to do it herself a couple times. LOL

My daughter is now almost 4, and has been trained since she was 2. We used a sticker chart. She wanted a new sheet set for her bed. I went online, printed off a picture of the one she wanted. We tole her that when the chart was full, 1 month worth, she could get the "prize". It worked like a charm. Have you tried placing a little potty in another room. We found that the play area was a little far from the potty for her, when she was just learning. So we moved the training potty closer to her, and that helped to. Good Luck!!

I think she is probably on the young side to be potty trained. I would keep encouraging her and agree with A. about putting panties over the pull-ups.

I have a suggestion and I hope it helps! For my daughternap time was when she was having the hardest time with wetting her pants. She was a "big girl" and wanted to wear big girl undies so we would put her in pull-ups (the kind where they can feel that they are wet) and put big girl undies over the top of them. So she still knows that she is wet- and should go on the potty-- but she gets to wear big girl undies too-- without the mess. And then when she gets more used to the feeling of when she has to go- then try just the big girl undies.
