We recently moved to SD and my fiance and I are adjusting just fine as adults normally do in regards to work, teh new house, so on and so forth. We have a 6 year old little girl who is a little social butterfly and left behind all her friends and cousins and play dates her age. Unfortunately, my experience thus far in interacting with the other moms at my daughters school, has been anything less then straight caddy and not promising. We are a young family in to outdoor activities and have amazing famly and friends, but not out here that's the problem. Meeting new families that have the same mind set as we do, fun, fun, fun, of course with boundaries there a must. We enrolled her in Soccer and she seems to love it. Does anyone have any advice as to any other ideas about her meeting new kids, ie, maybe park play dates, etc?

What can I do next?

You might want to try getting her into Girls Scouts. I am a young mom as well, and when my daughter started school the women were quite catty with me as well!! She is 16 now and I have now have lifelong relationships with some these women. Give it little time and once the relationships are established within your daughter's circle, everything tends to fall into place after that! Then you'll be grateful and may end up getting the well deserved kudos you deserve!!!

We moved to the SD area last year too. My neighbor introduced me to meetup.com. Do a search for "moms" in your area. Ours is the Escondido mom's club. Our calander has playdates almost daily, sometimes the weekends too. I have met several new...GOOD friends here. I must say I don't participate in the playdates all that often, but thru the message boards and setting up things one-on-one we've established some good friendships. I am thinking about joining a MOPS group too.
