Has anyone ever washed a pullup or diaper? Somehow one snuk into the machine the other day - might have something to do with being sleep deprived :). When I figured it out I rinesd the entire load, ran a rinse cycle in the washer (empty) and then washed the load again with an extra rinse. Everything went into the dryer and looked fine. When I was sorting today I notice all kinds of little shiny fibers covering everything.

Does anyone know 1) is it harmful? 2) How to get it off?

I am hesitant to put any of it on my girls for fear or irritating their skin, but I would really like to salvage the clothes.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks for all of the responses. I am going to try the salt solution....just sounds logical to me. I did try the lint brush idea, but the little fibers are just too embeded into the fabrics. GRRRR...so frustrating. Luckily it was a clean pull up. My daughter is potty trained, but we wear pull ups to bed just in case. She has been dry at night for the last 2 weeks, so I can count on it being a clean one.

I am sad to say that I have done this. There were little jelly balls EVERYWHERE! I just rewashed/rinsed everything a few times. It was a pain but eventually was all cleaned up.

You might consider rewashing in smaller loads though. I don't think it's harmful - just a big mess.

Good luck!

Well, 1 it's not harmful (we do a science experment @ MSI using the fiber) It's a super poloymer and regular table salt desolves it. So re-wash the clothes in a salt water solution and you should be fine...now because you dryed them you my have to repeat the process.

Do you have a lint brush? That is how I get the tissues off. I assume that it would work the same. I do not know if there is anything harmful is a diaper. The clothes are stirel (spelling) after two washes and a dry. The thought is gross but I was a cloth disper M.. Try the lint brush or a at hair sponge.

I washed a diaper one time. Same thing happened. It's not harmful, just annoying to have that "lint" all over your clothes. My problem wasn't as bad as yours, the diaper was wrapped in between a few shirts, and I just had to wash those pieces over again, and another trip through the dryer got rid of all the pieces. I agree with the lint roller if the dryer isn't getting them out. Good luck!

LMFAO.... ohhhhhhh I am dreading the day I do this and I know it will be coming soon enough! Anyhow, I doubt it would be irratating to the skin considering the child wears them in the first place :) The only thing I have to suggest is getting one of those tape lint rollers and rolling the clothes to get the shiny fibers off. I usually can find them in the laundry section or in the check-out line at Walmart.... probably the pet section also!

Also, if you are still worried, here is the phone number to Kimberly Clark Products/Pull-ups 1-888-525-8388. You can call them and ask their advice!

Good luck to you and GET SOME SLEEP! lol
Blessings!
