I may have just past my mucus plug and I am only 33 weeks pregnant :( What does this mean? I am waiting for my nurse to call me back but until them I am a little scared. Does anyone know when labor begins after this happens or has anyone ever experienced this around the 33rd week? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks everyone for your responses! finally heard back from my doctor and she pretty much said it was no big deal and doesn't mean anything unless I am having contractions or leaking fluid. So, pretty much she confirmeed what many of you helpful ladies had written. Thanks everyone for helping to put my mind at ease!

Don't freak! You can walk around without the plug for weeks. I doesn't mean that you'll be going into labor immediately. Now, if you were also having contractions and other early labor symptoms, then I would worry. I lost my plug at least a week before I had each of my girls. I was told that by itself it means nothing. So calm down!!! Good luck!

I had that happen about 2 to 3 weeks before i was due or maybe before then and nothing happened i was still 4 days late...i was told that as long as there was no blood and no leaking of water (not pee) it was fine. Also if you feel signs of cramping (contraction like pain) i would go to the er just to make sure everythings cool.

Hi R.. I hope everthing is okay with you and your baby. I have been down this road before. I had my third child back in december of 05 and started losing my mucos plug at about 33-34 weeks and having contractions every 2-3 min.apart. I was told that just because you lose your mucos plug does not mean you will go into labor right away. Even though I went through the same thing I delivered at 40 weeks and 3 days a health beautiful baby girl 9lbs 5.7oz. I will pray for you and hope you enjoy the rest of your pregnancy with out being scared.

Yeah! my 3rd son did the same thing at Thanxs-giving dinner. I kept feeling somthing like jelly between my legs,i just shrugged it off,15 min later i felt more had come down (mucus plug)I was 7months when (baby tried to make his get-away from,"Le-Womb". I called the doctor he asked me to come to his office the next morning, since the plug didn't have any blood in it,and I wasn't having any cramping. Went the next day, doctor examed me and the little man! "yes he was trying to excape"(laugh) he gave me some"Breathene" to take for the remainder of my pregnancy untill 10 days befor my due date,I had to stop taking them so baby would be born on time, instead of 7 months! (I asked him where he thought he was going!(when he got older) he said some little girl was givin him the eye & ask for his number! and he had to stretch his legs because our umbilical cord was holdin him back!(yes he's a comedian). Breathene was givin to me to slow down my breathing and somthing else the doctor said, but this was 20 yrs ago. Hope this helps(my name is S. mother of 5.(1 tryed to get out womb early-1 on time to the date- 1 was 12 days late -and the other boy was 10 days late- my last baby(girl was induced for me to avoid another 10lb baby(I requested this)

The plug is contanlty re creating itself. You shouldn't worry until you start having contractions that are 5 min apart.

I lost mine around the same time but didn't deliver my son until 1 day before my due date. Getting your doctor's advise is definitely a good thing though!

Good luck!

Definitely focus on the advice from your doctor's office, but I agree with the others from my experience. I didn't lose mine so early. It was maybe 2 weeks before my deliveries, but I had to be induced for both. My first was 12 days late and the second 15 days late. So, I can't imagine that it is an important clue that labor is coming your way soon. Good Luck

Hi R.,
On my first child my mucus plug broke I started having contractions about 1 hour later. The Dr. told me It could take 24 hours. I went to the hospital 3 hours later and was in labor for 30 hours. Ultimately I had a c-section. But after my mucus plug broke I moved quickly. Don't worry, It's time but unless your water breaks you will be alright

Hi R.,
It looks like alot of people have already told you that everything's okay. I don't remember losing my mucus plug, but from what I remember from childbirthing classes, your labor is very likely still weeks away since this is your first. Most importantly, don't stress. You don't want to induce early labor via too much stress. It's not good for you and it's not good for the baby. Just relax; I know that's easier said than done, but at least try. Your baby will come when he or she is ready. My daughter was two weeks early (my first), and she's perfectly healthy. I haven't had to call the doctor for anything unusual. She's now six months, and growing like a weed! Best wishes, and remember, relax. J.

You may go early, but not so early that you should be alarmed. I waitressed 5 days a week with my second child, lost my plug early, gave birth 3 wks early to a healthy baby boy, 7lbs. 3 oz.

Are you very active with this pregnancy? Any ideas on how big ur baby is so far. Maybe the due date was off a little.
