HELP! Hand Soap in My Carpet!

UGH! Last night I placed an almost full container of hand soap in my hall closet, which must have been too close to the edge. It fell off, hitting a shelf on the way down and broke, splattering hand soap all over my carpet. It's about a 1' x 2' section of carpet. I sopped up as much as I could with towels and wash clothes, but it was ruining the fibers and getting more and more sudsy.

I borrowed my aunt's rug scrubbed, which I will try tonite with just water.

Anyone have any other brilliant tips or suggestions to get a soapy mess up???

TIA,

C.

What can I do next?

You are going to have to use something to shoot clean water into the soap and then "extract" it back out...like a wet/dry vac...or a carpet steam cleaner...you can rent on from most grocery stores for pretty cheap...

Oh no! I think the rug scrubber will be the best plan of action. You might have to do it more than once though. Good luck!

Do you have a carpet cleaner or can you rent 1 from the store? If not scrub girl scrub. I don't have any better advice. I hope that works.

Not sure if this will work but may be worth a shot--my mom always added white vinegar to the washing machine rinse cycle because it "cut the suds." So you might try adding white vinegar to the water if you use the carpet cleaner. Good Luck!

oh man.... I feel your pain. I stepped on a body of suntan lotion and it squirted all over my sons carpet. Because of the water proof additive it did not come up with a carpet cleaner or ANYTHING. What worked was this cleaning stuff called "Awesome" that you get at the dollar store. Cheapest stuff ever and it worked in a jiffy. Good luck!

We had bubbles spill on our carpet, we just kept pouring plain water on it and suckin it up with the green machine. Try suckin up as much as you can before adding water, lol. It will prob take a while.

Good luck.
