Help for Infant Eczema!

Hi mamas! My almost 8 month old daughter is suffering from a bad flare-up of her eczema (for the last month now)! She has had it since she was about 2 months old, but it appears to be worsening. On the advice of our pedi, we have switched formulas from milk-based to soy, have cut out dairy from my diet (still giving her some breastmilk every day), keeping her baths short (using Aveeno baby wash), changed her clothes to all cotton, including pajamas, and are using Aquaphor, hydrocortisone cream, and neosporin....and she is still red, dry, and itchy!! I've also tried the Melaleuca products but to no avail. Do you have any experience or advice to help my sweet baby girl?? Thanks so much!

My littlest one went throuigh this. We tried everything the doc said and I think the auquaphor made it worse!! A lady at the day care I used back then told me about a cream she got off the internet. The daycare staff also said how much improvement they saw in her child, so we tried it. It was called FreeDerm I think. It worked great!! We also put a humidifier in her room to help her skin stay moist. She is almost two now and it is almost totally gone. I still use the hydrocortisone on the tops of her feet and lower legs but everywhere else has cleared. Also- if she gets it on her chin like mine did I discovered that the creamy petroleum jelly you can get for less than $2 at walmart works great. I still keep that stuff handy if she seems like she is getting a dry spot anywhere. Winter is the worst for eczema!!!

I just started trying the Arbonne baby line, from their baby wash to the baby body oil which I have heard has had amazing results for eczema. My 2 yr. old has eczema flare ups and nothing was working, but several moms in my playgroup have used the Arbonne stuff for their kids eczema and swore by it to me so I figured it was worth a shot. I have already seen great results with their diaper rash cream, so I am hopeful! Let me know if you are interested and I can try to get you some samples or something from the girl I got mine from. Good luck - It is so tough to watch your little one in any kind of discomfort.

Hi C.! I highly recommend trying Arbonne International's Baby Care line. These products work so well at controlling and eliminating Eczema and Psoriasis. I have adult clients and babies who use these products exclusively to combat these skin conditions. All Arbonne products are chemical fragrance and dye free. We use no mineral oil or animal products or by-products in any of our product lines. The reason we don't use these ingredients in our product lines is because they are highly allergenic which can often lead to skin reactions. Our products are also pH correct, hypoallergenic, 100% certified Vegan and Kosher. I personally only use Arbonne products for my family because number one they actually work and do what it says it's going to do, and number two because they're safe.
If you're interested, I'd be happy to drop some samples off with you today. You can also take a closer look at our products at: www.mandyolsen.myarbonne.com or www.arbonne.com. Good luck!

C., I am very familiar with this. My 20mos old son HAD this problem, but we are a lot better. We ended up switching detergent to All Free and Clear for all of his stuff. He sleeps with a humidifier in his room to ensure he's getting moisture. For baths, we use a Huggies brand for excema which is working well at this age, but we used only Cetaphil for a long time. For lotion, I slather his down with mineral oil immediately after his bath from head to toe...we also don't dry his skin with the towel. Then we follow that with Aquaphor. Initially I combined the Eucerin with the Aquaphor just to make the Eucerin a lot easier to apply on their skin because it is tough to rub in. We have very little flare ups now...if it occurs its in his arms or behind his leg. Ooohhh, I also bought this stuff called Acid Mantle cream...it sounds worse than it is. It is a cream that you have to request from the pharmacist, but it is over-the-counter. It was great to use on his flare ups versus having to always put a steroid on him. Occasionally I will use the steroid once to get the flare up under control and then follow up with the acid mantle. He is also on Zertec daily(Pediatrician is not a big prescription pusher, but feels this was necessary). I really hope this helps, because I know what you are going through. Good Luck.

I just use Eucerin cream on my baby girl and it does the job! Aquafor works great too.

My son has Eczema during the winter really bad and our doctor recommended using Cetaphil you can but it at walmart. It may not smell the greatest but we put it on a couple times a day and we see a great change in his skin.

I have some samples of RENEW which is a great Melaluca product. If you are interested, let me know. I can get it to you. It is safe for babies, and the absolute cure for Excema, and believe me in our house, we have tried EVERYTHING! If you decide you like it, a large bottle is under $10.00.
Blessings,
T.

I feel for you. My daughter, now 12, had it bad on her legs. I was told it was allergy related and that she should outgrow it. We used all products available and never found "the one" BUT, she did outgrow most of it by the age of 4. At this time, she gets it on her feet still, in the summer and if she goes barefoot in the grass. For some reason, we have found that the beach helps it. Nice excuse to go to the beach!! Good luck with your little one.
