Help! Dye on My Floor

I was making candles as thank you gifts to my completely volunteer staff at our church's vacation bible school. Of course, I used the candle coloring stuff. My husband kept saying, just use crayons. But, NO, I had to use the candle stuff. Anyway, I spilled some on the linoleum in the kitchen as I was pouring it into the molds. Now the floor is stained and my husband is angry. What will take it out? We've tried abrasive powdered cleansers and bleach. No change. But I recall seeing something on here about taking magic marker off walls with a product. I cannot recall the product and was hoping to try it.

What can I do next?

Try Sol-U-Mel. My sister used it to take hair coloring out of light colored carpet and we have used it to get grape juice out of our carpet as well. Plus, it does not have cancer causing ingredients in it like bleach and other cleaning products do.

They're called Mr. Clean magic erasers.

I had a lot of luck with them on my walls. Never tried them on floor but I'd give it a try!

Home Depot has graffiti remover that is a in a spray. Come in #1,#2, #3, #4 AND #5. It normally sits on the bottom shelf in the paint department. Call the number for help on the bottom and the gentalman is real nice and he will tell you if one will do it or he will tell you which one to buy. It costs about $7 a bottle. It will not hurt your floor. I used it on a commercial playground--worked miracles.

Be careful... The more you scrub one spot over and over, the more likely you will take off the top most layer of color. I'd call a flooring store for advice...

You may want to try a Magic eraser or WD40. They seem to work on most things.

Check the dye packaging for an 800 number or web site. They may have some suggestions. But- it IS dye! You may be out of luck. How about a nice new throw rug??

It sounds like you want "Magic Eraser." DO NOT let your children touch it. You also could try a tiny bit of paint thinner (I know this sounds crazy) if you have it around. Let us know what you use and what works on your floor. Good luck!

Sol-U-Mel by Melaleuca gets just about anything off of any surface, and it's non-toxic. Go to www.melaleuca.com to see if there are any associates in your area that you can buy a bottle from. If not you should be able to order it from the website, or call 1-800-282-3000 to order some. You don't use a lot. You can use it in its full strength or dilute it with water in a spray bottle. Either way, it should do the trick.

I use Desolve. Hair dressers use it for getting out hair color and dyes. You can get it a beauty supply or I get it at RDA beauty suppliers.

WD-40 might work. It would be a good idea to check with a flooring specialist to make sure you don't damage your floor's finish, though.

I am continually surprised what baking soda and a little water can do. Took all the marker/pen/crayon stains off my painted woods tables without any damage!
