Ok so I will have my period, and then shortly after it ends I have it again! What could that be? I am going to get to the doctor but wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts on it before I go. Thank you all! Elle

What can I do next?

I am having something like that. My son is 13 months and since he was 8 months old I have been having my regular period(5days) then 14 days later having it again. I am suppose to go for my yearly in May but at this rate I may be having a cycle. Anyone having suggestions?

I had similar symptoms many years ago. I went to see my doctor. They said everything was fine. They did say that it could be a side effect from a steroid asthma medication that I was taking. I switched medications and have not had any problems since.

It was incredibly inconvenient and annoying at the time.

I would suggest that you go to a specialist for female reproductive issues. I have Stein Leventhrall (sp) Syndrome and have had it most of my life. It was never diagnosed until my doctor finally sent me to a specialist at age 40 after we were unable to conceive and dealing with periods that just never quit. Just someone that specializes in woman's anatomy. God Bless. B. E.

One of my co-workers has problems with cysts on her ovaries and she has those same symptoms. Schedule an appointment immediately to see your OBGYN and find out what is wrong.

Hi, Ellen. A friend of mine had this same experience. When she finally went to her midwife, it turns out that she had at one time used a tampon without removing the first one. The midwife removed the tampon and everything went back to normal. Good luck.

I have something similar even on the pill - I will bleed for 2-3 days, then not for 1-2, sometimes 3 days, then bleed again for another day or two. Apparently with the lining being so thin, there isnt as much for me to bleed out and sometimes it takes awhile for everything to work itself down and out.

Its incredibly annoying, but in my case the doc said its nothing to worry about (and I have it whether Im on b.c. or not)

Depending on how long after your period it starts, it could be ovulation bleeding. Does the second bleeding start about 14 days before your period? Do you have any cramping or pains in the ovary area around that time? Ask your doctor but I would also recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. It is a great book that explains more about a womans reproductive system then I have ever seen. She also explains about Natural Family Planning.

I don't know if this is the same thing you're dealing with, but I experience something that sounds similar. My periods usually last 5 days from start to finish. I usually bleed for 3 days, and then I have about 24 hours in which I don't bleed AT ALL, before finishing that 5th day like a normal period. I've never investigated causes, but it might make you feel better to know you're not the only one experiencing this.

You're probably not ovulating, as that isn't "normal". After going off the pill (was on it for less than a year so I could go on accuttane), I stopped having a cycle for five months, which is typical for me. I wanted to conceive again, and more or less gave up on traditional medicine. I found a Naturopathic Physician, and she put me on some homeopathic hormones to be taken with the phases of the moon. She also had me take homeopathic doses of progesterone, as my levels weren't high enough to support conception/pregnancy, or a cycle (she used saliva and blood tests). I have plenty of other things wrong which she also "treated", but within 5 weeks or so I had a cycle, and within 7 months I was pregnant (took two years a piece for my other two).

Anyway, just wanted you to know that there are other kinds of doctors out there. I've gotten so much more help, without drugs, going the naturopathic route. You can find one on www.naturopathic.org. Good luck!

After I had our second son(26 months ago) my periods just got crazy. On some months it starts and is very light for 2 days then goes away and 2 days later comes back as "normal" period. Good thing you're checking with the doc....I probably need to do the same:)
