My 2 yr old wrote on my leather sofa with an ink pen, and I don't know how to get it out. I've tried hairspray before, along with my leather cleaner, but this time it looks like she pressed REALLY hard with the pen, and it's not coming off. Please help!!

So What Happened?

Hey Thanks so much to all you women out there who responded! I got some great ideas, and I've tried some of them. I got the ink to fade a little, and I think I'll try again tomorrow. Want to make sure the color isn't changing. thanks again!

I used those scrubs that you buy in the auto department. We don't have leather but have the soft suede feeling material and ink came out of it with the scrubs. It has also taken stains out of the carpet and really works well to get stains out of your car interior. Got grease off the carpet too.

You have to get Sol-u-Mel and I can tell you how to get it. It will come in handy for you also removes permanent marker, grease, crayon and from others I know ink on leather sofa and lipstick in carpet just to name a few! I can help you get this for your home and the great thing is that it is "green" with no harmful chemicals so safer for you and your family. Email me personally so I can tell you more on how to get this and much more that will save you time and money...it works wonders and you can share with others too!!!

There are Goo Gone type products in the little tin cans, and a spray that I believe will take out ink. However, I'm not quite sure what the Goo Gone would do to your leather. Read the label. The spray shouldn't hurt it too much. Spray may be called "Paint Off".

try using lemon oil, just a little bit goes a long way and it may take a little color off if you have a dark colored leather so use sparingly, but it will take the ink off.
You can buy it where you buy furniture polish.

That happened to our leather sofa too. We had the Guardsman protection plan so I called on the warranty. They sent a technician out and he was able to get the ink off. I would try calling them.

Sol u mel from Melaleuca saved my white leather couch and chair several times.
You have to be a member to purcase it but all their products are worth it and they are cheaper than regular store products at the best quality.
I have been a customer for over 4 years now and love all of thier products. I am in Lenexa, ks, if you are close I would love to give you some of it to save your couch.
Let me know if I can help.

I have leather furniture too, I have used hairspray for light ink marks with success but I have never had anything worse than a few feathery marks, I am not sure if goo gone would work or not, but maybe it would be worth a shot...
Good luck

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I know there is a ink/pen and lipstick remover for leather that you can use. I used it this morning and got the pen out that my daughter used on my leather chair. I got my leather cleaning kit from Nebraska Furniture Mart and the ink remover is fantastic.

Undiluted rubbing alcohol. You may want to follow up with vegatable oil to restore some of the oils since the alcohol may leave it dry. Good luck!

Try greased lightning it is a spray. I have had great results getting ink out of clothes with this and it may work with leather. You can get it at Wal-mart or the dollar store.
