I would choose smoothies over shakes. My favorite smoothies are fruit! Just get nonfat yogurt, a little ice and whatever fruit you want. Strawberry, banana, pineapple is my favorite!
Also my husband's specialty is oats, chocolate, honey, peanut butter and banana...Awesome!
My mom just bought me a smoothie recipe book for Christmas and I plan to try a new one everyday!
Also a quick healthy meal our whole family loves is baked fish. We buy the frozen, individually wrapped filets, usually tilapia and bake them as directed on the package with a little butter (promise makes a fat free that really tastes like butter) and paprika. My picky 4 yr old even likes this!
You don't necessarily have to eat different meals when trying to eat healthy, but just switching the ingredients to healthier ones make a huge difference!

Not a shake, but something I have most mornings since the end of my pregnancy in August:

Greek yogurt - about six ounces... like a standard yogurt cup
one banana, sliced
one peanut butter granola bar, broken/crushed
handful of berries or raisins (occasionally... mostly I omit them)
small dash of organic maple syrup (cuts the tartness without being too sweet)

Mix everything together and enjoy. It takes about 90 seconds to prepare, tastes great and can be eaten with one hand, so it meets all of my criteria for eating while nursing.

I got the idea from Starbuck's honey parfait. There's has too much honey and costs too much. I buy the large container of Greek yogurt. It costs roughly the same as one of Starbuck's parfaits and generally lasts the week unless my older daughter wants some, too.

Smoothies are ok, but don't overdo the citrus vit c. It can lead to diaper rashes in the baby. Eat oatmeal for your supply. It's easy to eat in cold winter mornings. You can prep it in the crackpot (crockpot! Edit) and save small batches that you microwave every morning for 30 sec to one min.

Toast 1c of steel cut oats in a frying pan with butter for flavor.
Add to crackpot with 4c water and, optional, 1/2 c cream. Healthier w/o butter&cream of course.

S.,
Shaklee makes delicious protein shakes. I have had one every morning for over 15 years. They come in Strawberry, Cafe Latte, Vanilla and Chocolate. You can make smoothies with them also. Let me know if you are interested.
