My 17 year old a couple weeks ago decided she wanted to cleanse her body of all processed foor for a month. No fast food/TV dinners/ect. She has been eating just white sushi rice and drinking tea, and shes lost to much weight. Her employer called me today saying that he's worried about her, and how thin she's looking. Shes naturally around 115 pounds, a size 3 in pants. Her tightest bondage pants now sag in the legs, which she hsant had that happen since she was about 13.
Shes very strong willed, I won't be able to get here to eat something she doesn't want/doesn't fit her criteria.
So do any of you have recipes that are very low in saturated fat and jujst generally healthy/not processed?
She doesn't have any allergies so I'll love and appreciate any ideas

What can I do next?

I urge you to help her get enrolled in a nutrition class. Many hospitals and clinics sponsor them. Ask your physician for a referral.

Make an appointment for her to see a physician. This sounds like an eating disorder at the worst and an unhealthy situation at the best.

I don't understand how healthy recipes will help you help her She's on an extreme diet that is fairly common. She's only eating white rice and tea. Fresh fruits and vegetables are not processed and she's not eating them. Apparently they don't fit her criteria. They can be eaten raw or steamed without any additives. If she'll accept healthy fats, sprinkling them with olive oil and lemon juice adds to their flavor and healthfulness.

All foods come in their natural, non-processed state and she's not eating those. Only rice and tea. I suspect that she believes the misguided hype that eating this way will cleanse her body. She needs to learn about nutrition to realize that, yes, it does cleanse your body but it takes away every good thing along with the so called bad. She is ruining her health. She also may believe she needs to lose weight in which case this may be anorexia.

Take her to the doctor and a nutritionist. Do not lecture her. Tell her in a kind and loving way that you are worried about her health. Let the doctor and nutritionist teach her about a healthy way to eat.

I just read your post about piercings, shave head, etc. Tell her that although you don't approve of her doing those things that you realize now that they won't ruin her health. Focus on this issue which does ruin health. This is a really good example of picking your "battles" or what you focus on. Ignore the former. Lovingly encourage her to learn about nutrition and ways to be healthy.

Is it possible that she really has an eating disorder? Generally, you can eat healthy without going to extremes of just having rice and tea. She needs to be eating fruits, veggies, as well as adequate amounts of protein, and good fats (such as those found in avocados, olive oil, nuts). Salmon is excellent for the low fat, but high in omega-3s. Also, tuna. Chicken is low in fat and a good source of protein - it's healthier grilled than fried. Also, eggs, or even tofu. Grains and carb sources should be whole grain, wherever possible, such as brown rice and whole wheat pasta. She also needs to be getting enough calcium and iron. I would be worried from what you have written that she may have an eating disorder, or maybe she is trying to follow some fad diet and really doesn't know what a healthy normal balanced diet looks like, or what a fad diet can end up doing to her body. She should be discussing any diets with a doctor prior to starting on one because it doesn't sound like she needed to be on one in the first place. It's great that she wants to eat healthier, but she does not need to be dropping weight.

total body cleansing might sound like a good ideal but truth is it can rid your body of bacteria that it actually needs to process food, just because half the planet survives on a couple of teaspoons of rice a day doesnt mean that its a good ideal.the typical asian diet contains rice, veggies and alot of seafood that americans dont typically eat.

sounds like she has lost too much weight already, do the mom thing, and find out who introduced her to this, probably some new fad at school, or some boy called her fatty, and she decided to do this to herself

Does she eat meat? Chicken dishes, made with fresh veggies and herbs, Fish, also can be used or tofu or other veggie soy products. She needs protein. Also cheeses . Shop at organic stores, maybe Trader Joes, Just check labels. But remember eating doesn't mean just rice and tea. . .Your body needs protein and veggies and fruit!!!
