Hi I am trying to change my eating habits but I need help. I need to know how many calories, carbs, fats you are suppose to consume in a day. How many serving of fruits and vegetables are you suppose to eat per day. Any advice would be great.

Instead of strictly counting calories, carbs, fats etc., I find that it is easier to just follow a few rules. That way you are not setting yourself up to fail with a bunch of counting which can be tedious. They have helped me shed all of my baby weight and then some, and I feel better than I have in my whole life.

1. No "white" carbs - that means no white bread, flour or sugar
2. 3-4 servings of whole wheat carbs a day and don't eat any bread carbs past 6pm
3. Include 2-3 servings of almonds, avocado or olive oil a day for healthy fats
4. Have a fruit or vegetable with every meal/snack
5. Let yourself have a small treat EVERY DAY. Like a 1/2 cup of ice cream or mini candy bar

Good luck, you can do it and you will feel great!

Hi K.,

While all the advise you have is OK. You didn't mention if you are in good physical shape. Depending where you are athletically your ratios to carbs, proteins, and fats may need adjusting. I'm a coach for TeamBeachbody, you've seen their TV informercials:

http://teambeachbody.com/showcase/-/bcp/1861298193/22751/...

I would be your Fitness Coach FrancieE and this is why you might want to join for free:

http://teambeachbody.com/showcase/-/bcp/1881617656/22751/...

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so a couple short videos should really explain things.

If you've got any questions please give me a buzz.

We have a diet planner in there and it will give you ratios of the type of diet you'll need to support your current activity levels.

Hope this helps.

Hi K., WOW that is a tall question. It may seem "easy" but it is not. You didn't give us much to go on. You see everyone is different. But I will do my best to give you some pointers.

http://caloriecount.about.com/foods is what I recommend to all my clients.

Now. You have to treat your health like a GPS system, to get where you are going, you need to know where you currently are. You wouldn't get into your car and just drive would you? You always have a direction, either forward or backward. Your health is the same. Exactly.

Ask yourself:
How much do I weigh now?
What do I want to weigh? – (keeping in mind muscle not only weighs more than fat it is healthier for your body to carry more of it)
What dress/pant size am I right now?
What size do I want to be?
What are my eating habits?
Do I eat 5 times a day to maintain a healthy metabolism?
Do I feed my body what it desires for optimal health - no just eating the right amounts of fruits and veggies doesn't work any more.
How do I treat my digestive tract?
Do I allow it to function properly?
Do I eat enough fiber?
Have i removed sugar and preservatives from my diet?
Do I drink soda, alcohol or smoke?
How often do I eat out?
Do I eat breakfast?
What are my nighttime habits?
Do I eat my biggest meal of the day at lunch?
Is my brain fed the rigth nutrients so that it will tell my body what to do for the day?
What is the first thing that I put into my body each day?
Do I have a coach to help me and guide me (even Tiger Woods has a coach)
What are my WELLNESS goals?
What am I willing to do to achieve my goals?
What am I willing to take out of or put into my life to achieve my goals?
Am I serious or curious?
Am I ready to make even one small change a week to make a lifetime of difference in my health?
Who is on my support team?
Will my family support or sabotage me?
Who will I go to when I have a wall kicking moment?
What amount of stress do I have in my life?
Where do I live, what is the environment like?
What is the level of pollution and toxicity in my drinking water and in the air I breathe?
Am I on any medications?
Are my goals on my change list or on my vent list?
**If they are on your change list...then we should talk.

Okay...you get the idea.

K., this is what I do. I am a Family Wellness Coach. If you think that I may be able to help you, phone interviews are free. We can go through a Health and Wellness analysis and set your GPS for success. You decide what you will do with that information.
