Health Insurance for Newly Retired Parents
Hi there!
My dad just got laid off from his job, and both he and my mom are under 65. Does anyone know a good resource to use when shopping for health insurance? Thanks!
So What Happened?™
I forwarded the information to my parents and they are so grateful for all the thoughtful responses - thank you!

We were paying over $1000/mo for a HAP HMO then had to go without. I'm on Medicare now but my younger husband got a BCBS policy for himself.

When I needed health insurance, I shopped online at ehealthinsurance.com. I was able to get a decent policy (nothing remarkable) for me and my son, have all of my son's vaccines covered, and my annual physical covered. The policy I joined was with Aetna and even had a dental policy which covered your basics (cleaning, xrays, etc).

checkout hap.. they had reasonable policies for individuals..
we were able to buy blue cross for 1 month for our family for only 233 a month.. it had a high deductible but it would have been coverage in case of a real big medical expense..

Hi, K.,
I have a lady who has her own insurance agency that reps many different insurance company programs so she can fits people's specific needs. I used her to find my insurance as I am an independent, home-based business owner and have been very happy! Sally Kennedy ###-###-####

I a a licensed Health Insurance agent and I would be more than happy to help them review the information with not only my own company but compare BC and Hap. Would rather they know what they are getting even if it is not with me.
If I can be of any help please feel free to contact me by ###-###-####.

Hello K.,
My name is A. and I'm a licensed healthcare agent. I have many options for them, including temporary insurance which is very affordable and goes into effect immediately. Just be careful in your searches, cause there are "insurances" out there that aren't really insurance, especially online. I rep about 7 different companies so I can help them choose what's best for them and their situation. You can call me @ ###-###-#### or email ____@____.com
Thanks,

Hi K.,
I am the accounting person at an insurance agency. We have a guy here that does health insurance. I've hooked a couple of people up with him and he has done a good job. If you'd like for him to get your folks some quotes, let me know. I don't know much about insurance, but our company goes through several different insurace companies so we can quote around.
Let me know if you are interested.
