I am 4 weekes pregnant and I have been having this pain from the beginning. It is right were your ovaries are. On the right or left. Never both at the same time. Its a sharp pain and it only lasts a second or two. It seems like it happens mostly at night or when I haven't urinated in awhile. I do remember having the pain when I was pregnant with my daughter. I don't remember having it this much though. Does anyone know what this is?

What can I do next?

It could be something as simple as your body trying to start your period since you aren't very far or it could be an ovarian cyst but it could also be something as serious as an ectopic pregnancy. You should have this checked out by your doctor immediately just to be safe. Good luck with the pregnancy...

I too was and am having the same problems and it sometimes comes w/ sharp pains shooting up under my rib cage. Im just now 8 weeks and started having the pains about about 6 weeks. This is my second child and the first preg was a MAJOR piece of cake besides the first trimester 24 hour a day sick to my stomach!!

Anyway I discussed w/ dr and it was found I have a cyst on my right ovary. Which after I researched was found to happen in some women during pregnancy and most times reduces as the pregnancy grows. Which as been the case w/ me.

I miscarred a couple years ago in the 8th week so right now Im hoping that all is ok even though I have had some bleeding off and on during the preg and also w/ the cyst pain.

Best of Luck and have your dr check you for ovary cysts.

Hi D., As others have mentioned it does sound like round ligement pain even this early. It can get worse with each pregnancy. My 3rd pregnancy it hurt so bad in the evening it was hard to walk. My doc just told me to take it easy. My two other childern were toddlers at the time LOL! I talked to my chiropractor that specialized in working with pregnant bodies, her technique is called the Webster technique. It did wonders!! I think there is a couple that practice this in the Birmingham area just Google Webster chiropractic technique and I believe it will come up with doctors in our area. Unfortunately the chiroprator I used is in Omaha, NE.
As always if you are concerned and it persists call your doctor. It is possible it is more serious but most likely it is nothing that is going to effect your pregnancy.
Hope everything turns out well!

not an expert but I had round ligament pain. It is the ligaments stretching and getting ready. I had it starting at about 5 weeks and it lasted for a long time. Hurt enough that I asked the doc about it. Obviously if it doesnt seem right then call your OB.
