Having a Star Wars Birthday Party for My 7 Year Old Son. Needs Suggestions..

We had a pirate party once. I bought eye patches and plastic swords. Everyone was sword fighting the entire time. hehe! We also had a Star Wars party once. My son has a collection of light sabers. We brought those out and everyone had a really good time fighting the enemy.

If you can find some cheap lightsabers... maybe even just inflatable ones... that would be a cool thing to play with and they could take them home.

This is totally unrelated to a Star Wars party, but what has been a hit at all my parties is the balloon pop game. Blow up a ton of balloons. Make a big take home bag for the winner. Throw all the balloons in the middle of the floor. Ready, Set, Go and all the kids start sitting on the balloons like crazy. Whoever pops the most balloons gets the big take home prize. And since it is Star Wars themed, the bag can be something Star Wars related. The kids loooved this game. It gets them active and is very noisey and that's what kids like. hehe!

We did a Star Wars party for my son's 7th birthday, too, although that was 6 years ago. The BEST thing we did was the light saber craft. Go to Home Depot and get some spongy pipe insulation sleeves (the kind they put on pipes to keep them from freezing) and cut them to "light saber" lengths. Then get some red, blue, green, purple and black streamer rolls at any party store. Help the kids to wrap the bottom 5 - 6 inches of their light sabers with the black streamers and the rest with whatever color light saber they want (at our party, MOST of the kids went with RED). Tape the streamers into place. Then send them outside to have a battle. They won't hurt each other, the stuff is spongier than a whiffle ball bat. If a few of them start losing the streamers, just have them come in and re-wrap with more streamers. Then let them take home their light saber as part of the goody bag. I can't TELL you what a huge hit this was. Those boys spent easily an hour outside battling it out. We ended up having no time for other games. To this day, that is the best party we did and my son's friends still talk about it.

For my son's Star Wars party, I got several of those foam noodle things used in swimming pools. I cut them in half and taped black duct tape around the cut end and up about 3 inches. They made great "light sabers". I blew up a bunch of balloons, and it was great fun hitting the balloons and each other. It is pretty impossible to hurt anyone with the foam noodles, so it was a safe activity. And the kids got to keep them as a party favor.

This weekend I picked up a Boba Fett helmet on clearance at Freddies. It was originally $40 and only $20 now. It is adjustable inside and has lights and voice. It might be a really fun addition if you/your partner showed up wearing it (it is surprizingly large enough for adults) and played the part of the bounty hunter. : )

We did a starwars party and played "pin the light saber on Lego Luke Skywalker" We printed a big picture of luke out holding a light saber up, and then I cut light sabers out of poster board, and added a piece of that tacky putty to the back before each kid went to pin the light saber. The kids had fun with the spin on the classic game :)

Have each child make a mask of their favorite character and wear it. Put glue and fake fur, feathers, and silvery glitter etc. out. You can buy plain masks in a party shop so each child goes home with a special one of her/his own.

We had a Star Wars Party for my sons 5th birthday and found a book on how to have the ultimate Star Wars party. In it was how to make a Death Star pinata. It took a little time, but the kids loved it. I filled it with fun candy and they got to hit it with light sabers. Also, we made Jabba juice to drink. Another big hit. Played pin the light saber on Darth Vader and they all had a great time.

Fun! A Star Wars cookbook is genius, I shouldn't even be surprised they make such a thing! Our neighbor had a star wars party recently and they did homemade light sabers out of pool noodles. It was cute! They got red ones and blue ones and they cut them down a bit and put duct tape around the base to make a "handle". The boys were about 6-7 and had a BLAST! They held up really well since you know whatever you get them they will immediately commence in whacking each other with! If you can't find noodles in stores right now you can most likely order them on line. They also did a themed pinata...they made it themselves and I'm not sure what it was as I'm not all that well versed in Star Wars, but it was big and roundish?? I'm sure they sell those out there somewhere too though...check Party City they have lots of pinatas.

build a spaceship out of card board boxes in the garage or your sons room.

Have a scavenger hunt related to your theme. Can be more like.....hide a note that leads to another note, etc... prizes are star wars related. Your son can be the leader or they can take turns reading the notes.
