Have You Ever Used Ritz Clothing Dye???????

OK- don't be scared. I'm certainly not an expert but I have used it in the past. Why not try it out on an old rag first. That way you'll get a sense of how it works... AND if the pants are already greyish than you have nothing to lose!

For his next pair of pants you could try Tide Coldwater or Woolike for Darks. Maybe those will help keep the color longer.

I've used it many times. I prefer to do my dye-jobs in a big pot on the stove. I always get to nervous to do it in the washer..especially black. Or if you have a big wash basin. I just don't want my other clothes to get color run into them and in the washer, i know you can run it a few times to get all the color out, but I've never had the nerve. I HAVE, in the past(when I was young and didn't care so much), done it in a public washer though. That's awful, huh!?! I know I'm paying kharma for that! LOL!! Good luck!

Yes, for many years. There are also some better dye's in most fabric/craft stores. Be sure to read the directions very carefully. And be careful of washing them with other clothes for a while. Many times the colors will run. Also be sure to use enough dye. Sometimes you will need two boxes. Look at what the box says for number of boxes per pound. That's all I can think of off the top of my head. Good luck!

i've used it before. It works great! You can use it in your own washer if you have one, and Don't forget to run a cycle or two with nothing in there the first time after you've already dyed the pants and then the second time put a wash cloth you don't care about in there to see if it catches any left over dye. Good luck, i'm sure it will turn out fine.

My Mom ueses Ritz ALL the time!! I have usee the color remover when one color has bled on another. Hey what do you have to lose? He can't use the pants anyway:)

I've used Rit Dye a lot, and have used it to make black clothes look really black again... I don't know what the material is of your husband's pants though. Maybe check on their website - www.ritdye.com - and see what you can find out about using the dye on that particular fabric.

I am by no means an expert, but it's my understanding that if the fabric contains any synthetic fibers, you won't be able to successfully overdye. It just won't take evenly. If it's 100% cotton, you can try Ritz dye remover and strip the pants down to white and then try to dye them black again. I'm not sure how perfect they need to be...

My suggestion, buy a new pair of pants. Then experiment with the old ones. Good luck!

I use Ritz clothing dye all the time. I have never used it for pants but im sure it works just as good. I dye my shirts in my kitchen sink because it is stainless steel although I have used my washing machine as well. I just follow the directions. My only suggestions is that after dyeing, - for the next at least three washes you dont wash those articles of clothing that have been dyed with anything else. The color stays for about a year.

You need not strip all the color out to dye them the same color they were. If they are cotton dyeing them will work like a charm. I use black all the time, in my opinion the black is the easiest. It will however not work well or at all on synthetics. But synthetics dont fade, so chances are you are talking about cotton. I use my washer, follow the directions, add the salt and use hot water, add the dye and let it mix and dissolve compeltely before adding pants. I made that mistake this weekend dyeing white tank tops for my boys, blue. I kind of have some dark specks from the powder not dissolving in the water first. But they make black liquid dye so if you use that you dont have to worry about the powder not dissolving. Good luck.
