I was just wondering if anyone has dealt with this and if you have any ideas that are more homeopathic. I am not much into getting medicated, if at all possible.

Thank you in advance.

So What Happened?

Thank you to all for your advice with the insomnia. I take the valerian root on occasion and I began taking L-tyrosine to regulate my thyroid and the mood swings and insomnia have all but disappeared. Thank you to all who responded.

K.,

I've always had a hard time falling asleep, but never paid any min to it until my husband went to a Dr. for sleep apnea. My husband went through all tests and stuff & was diagnosed with it, but still had more testing to go through, when one of the dr.'s suggested he keep a sleep record. This was basically a journal that he wrote everything he did from the time he ate dinner, what he ate to the time he woke up in the morning. We realized that it was caffeine. If he drinks or eats even the slightest bit of caffeine after 7pm than he can't fall asleep & he's up & down all night long. I cut out caffeine along with him to be a supportive wife & low & behold....I sleep like a brick now. I even have more energy in the morning. Your problem may not be caffeine but it could be something as simple as something you are eating. It's worth a try....afterall it's free to do & it will save you money so you can spend it all on your little ones...which we love to do!

Good luck!

Katy

Hello, K.. I have had to deal with insomnia before. I found the best thing for me is after I have gotten the kids in bed usually around 8 not later than 8:30 deal with the necessary chores-dishes and putting away dinner. Then I take some "me" time. This is when I take me a shower and after that I take time to "shut off" my mind. I do this for about 10 mins-depending on the day. Usually that will put my mind and body at ease to get some much need sleep.
As far as long for something less demanding in the career field, I may have an opportunity for you. If you are interested please feel free to repsond back.
Hope advice gets you some need rest.

Believe it or not, my doctor told me to take 1 Benadryl at bedtime. That is what is actually in Tylenol PM to make you sleepy. You can check the label. She said if you don't need the Tylenol (it has to go thru the liver), just take the Benadryl. It helps me when I am anxious or can't slow down at night. If you want to go a more homeopathic route, Hyland's has insomnia tablets that don't make you groggy the next day. I just take one instead of 2 and it does the trick. Good luck.

Lavender works wonders on me. Not only do I fall asleep, but it is dreamless sleep. I use the Body Shop lotion, but there are all ways of using it. Bath oil, linen sprays... this list goes on. Try it out.
Happy sleeping!

You can also try Melatonin. This is what the body makes to make you sleepy. You can buy it at GNC or other nutrition stores. It is all natural and doesn't leave you groggy. When I take it I don't just all the sudden get sleepy or anything like you do with any of the drugs. It just makes it easier for you to go to sleep and stay asleep like you would normally. I take it about 30 minutes before I would normally go to bed and just do my normal bedtime routine. Good Luck!

I suggest REST-EZ ... natural and non addictive. You get a good night's sleep without feel the least bit drowsy the next day. Actually, I wake feeling charged for the day. You can only get this online or through a catalog. But ... I can send you a bottle if you'd like.

If you are having anxiety issues (i.e. lying there awake worrying about things) taking a B complex vitamin before bed should help. Also, Calcium and magnesium are supposed to help.

Hi K.,

My husband has been an insomniac for his whole life....finally found a product that is natural that has let him sleep thru the night. It is primarily Valerian Root but has a blend of other things in it. It also helps with stress and doesnt make you drowsy just helps you sleep when you try to. You can only get it from a membership club that I belong. The cost for an annual membership is just one dollar until 6/15.(A special they are running right now). My technology is not good where I am and am not on the computer daily but you can call me at ###-###-####. I can explain everything then. There are also some things that will help you with your little one.

Would love to hear from you soon.

Hi K.,

I recommend valerian root. I've been taking it for occasional bouts with insomnia for a couple of years. My problem is that I fall asleep just fine, but then wake up at 3 a.m. with my mind racing. It seems to get me back to sleep nicely, and I wake up easily in the morning - none of the lasting grogginess of medication. It's an herb, available in the vitamin section of Publix or any drug store.

Sweet dreams!
