Have Any Moms Out There Tried Fastin for Weight Loss
I wanted to know if anyone has tried fastin and what were your results. I am about 40 pounds overweight and I am 40 years old and I still eat right and do the gym but the weight just does not budge from my body. Since it is so slow I have given up and need a boost of some kind. A friend tried this and did not diet or exercise and lost 17 pounds in 12 weeks. I plan to do the diet and exercise.

So What Happened?™
I think quite a few moms think I was talking about fasting....I am talking about the diet pill fastin which I just went to the doctor and he will not prescribe it--I knew he wouldn't so I will be counting calories and working out. Thanks to all who responded, I will probably research some of your websites.

My mother just lost a lot of weight by eating fresh fruits & drinking lots of water. Cutting out pop completely. Eating nuts/beans for protein instead of meats or dairy products. She looks & feels great. My mom is 54. It's a great season for fruit right now. I would be really hesistent to rely on a pill to loose weight. I can't stick to the diet my mother is on, but I did cut out pop & replace desserts with fresh fruit & feel healthier. My kids love it & it teaches healthy eating habits early on. Good luck to you!

Do some research on the master cleanse. Me and my husband have done it before with great results. My husband has done it more than me, and he lost 20 pounds from doing it for 14 days. It is hard the first few days, but after that it is not that bad and you start to feel good and healthier. I lost about 7 pounds, but I only did it for 7 days. I wimped out! You do have to make sure you have a good plan of eating when you are done, because if you go back to your old eating habits, you will be right back where you started. The master cleanse helps you kind of jump start your new lifestyle of eating healthy and not over eating. That's my husband's problem (and mine, for that matter) We still eat when we are full. I think he is ready to do it again. I really need to also. It is a little hard when you have to cook for your kids, and you can't eat anything. But...you can drink all the mastercleanse mixture, water and herbal tea you want. You just have to make up your mind to do it (10-14 days is not really that long when you think about it) It's all in your mind! We do truly have powerfulminds, and when we really have a desire to do something, we do it! I think I have just inspired myself to do it!! I have been wanting to, but I just haven't made the effort yet! Let me know, after you do some research, if you might be interested it doing the master cleanse. Maybe we can do it together and support each other. I have some information on it,somewhere, I will try to find it and steer you to a website that might give you some good info. Don't be fooled into buying anything off the internet. There is abundant free info on the web, at the library and at bookstores. Hope this helps you some! L.

There is no easy way to lose weight. All these diet pills, fad diets, all the schemes you hear about... they make me sick! The only true way to lose weight is simple. Step back and take a look at your diet. No more fast food, no more prepackaged meals, no more sugary snacks. Eat healthy. Prepare your own meals. Yes, it's hard when your busy working with kids, but it is possible. Also, you have to excersize. Park farther away from stores, take your kids on a daily walk (which will help them in staying fit also!), run in place, walk up and down stairs. No need for expensive excersize equiptment or joining a gym. You just have to start moving! Stay active, eat right, get the junk food out of your house. The main thing over everything else - you have to WANT to lose weight. If you don't truly want to lose it - you won't. You have to accept it and start changing your whole life. Popping a few pills a day is NOT a way to lose weight. You might lose some quick, but it'll come back. Change your life, lose weight and show your kids a good example!

Hi L.
What really helped me was a free website called www.sparkpeople.com. They have a great support board where you can ask any questions. You can also log everything you eat. Once you start writing down everythign that goes into your mouth it makes a big difference. Just something to try but I agree with the others.........don't fast. Weight loss is not an easy thing and there are no miracle drugs. Good luck

Hi L.---I agree with the other posts that you've received. I am a wellness educator and am studying for certification from a naturopath who has a PhD in holistic nutrition. I have a passion for wellness and would be happy to share the information I am learning with you.
Both 'fasting' and Fastin, a diet pill, do not work for long-term, permanent weight loss. When you try to fool your body into getting rid of excess pounds, it gets rid of what it wants to, not the fat that it so desperately thinks it needs for a possible famine. The only way to lose fat safely, and not just water and muscle, is at a rate of 2 to 3 pounds per week. You need a combination of eating the right foods for health and exercise to accomplish this goal. Notice I didn't say calorie reduction. There is a difference.
Some habits you might want to start in order to determine why you aren't losing weight right now.
1. Keep a food journal. You will identify trends that may be working against your weight loss goals.
2. Focus on eating more dietary fiber. When your diet consists of 90% fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, you can't possibly eat too many calories and the weight will just melt off. We should be eating a minimum of 25 grams of fiber each day. More is better and easy to do if concentrating on the listed four food groups.
3. Practice the ELMO diet. Eat Less More Often. When we eat too many calories at any single meal, our body will automatically store what we don't need for our immediate needs. Our body is so efficient at storing excess fat, that scientists can look at a fat cell and tell you where it came from, whether it be from a pork chop, beef or that ice cream you had for dinner.
4. When you excercise, pick up the intensity to get the body to dip into fat stores for energy. It can take 90 minutes of exercise before we start burning fat. Increasing intensity helps to get there faster.

Hello L., Please do NOT use this method. I have health issues with my digestive system and am forced to fast from time to time. This caused me to slowly put ON weight over time. The docs say that it changed my matabalizem. So after never having a weight problem, now I do, from fasting. My advice to you would be to talk to your doctor and have your thyroid levels checked. If those are off then all of your effort to lose weight will do nothing. Good luck.

Not eating does not help you loose weight! Oh, my! It slows down your metabolism. Your body will go into starvation mode and save the fat. I teach people how to loose and maintain weight loss. I'd be happy to share with you too, if you are serious.

Hi L.,
Sounds like you are doing very good things for your health, but you would like to give your metabolism a boost. Working out is good as muscle mass does increase one's metabolism, naturally. So don't give up on that.
I work with people people who have tried everything and want to know what they can do to make a lifestyle change. Not only to get to their goal weight but to stay at their goal weight. If that sounds like you, I welcome you to email me.
Warm regards,
M.
