Has Anyone Used Craig's List or Freesource to Sell Houehold Items?

What types of items have you sold on Craig's list? I have to de-clutter my house and would like advise as to where to sell it - Ebay is too unpredictable.

What can I do next?

I have sold quite a few items on Craigslist ... including an inflatable Christmas tree (sold in July!), treadmill, ab roller, weathervane, table, chair, terra cotta pots, vintage sink/vanity & commode, etc. I've also given away some free items. Overall I've been pretty pleased with the results I've gotten, but sometimes it's a little scary when you think about giving total strangers your address. You will also get the "flakes" who promise to come look at something and never show or call and that can be very frustrating.

I personally like to use cheapcycle. As Cyndi said, you do have to be carefull. If you have a problem with someone, the moderators can ban them from the group. I had to report a lady for calling me names when I didn't give her my item. The moderators banned her immediately. The best thing about cheapcycle is that it is free and you can post pictures which really help things to sell. Good luck!

We use Craiglist and have sold a bunch of stuff. Also have posted in the wanted section and got responses. Toys sell really well on Craigs. Books don't sell real well. I have found to use the name brand and when people do a search its easier to find your posting. Also using separate posts instead of lumping them into one post works better. I am going to check out Freesource did not know about it...thanks!!! There is a site called etsy which is similar to ebay but they have less fees, you might want to check them. Also the community Press will allow you one ad a week for free if the item is under 50.00 in price. Best wishes, !

M.,, I am a professional organizer and have sold alot of items on craigslist for my customers and myself.. Just becare and make sure someone is home when you make an appoitment for someone to come and pick up items,, do not be alone.. I have sold anything from antiques to toys, to an entire house of goods on craigs list.. If you need any help please let me know Good luck L.

Craigslist or Yahoo Groups (Classified area of your location)is good for selling items. E Bay charges are too much and the shipping is another story. If you have any questions about either -- e mail me.

I think eBay is alot safer than CL. You can sell the item without needing to meet the person or invite them to your house. Through ebay you can use Paypal for payments so you don't need to worry about receiving counterfeit money orders, counterfeit cash etc. And the no shows with CL are a pain. When someone does show up you most likely don't want them at your house. If you do decide to sell on CL never have them come to your home. The problem I found with CL is that everyone wants you to lower your price. Thru eBay you set your minimum. There are fees involved but you have to price your item to cover the cost of your fees. It has always worked for me. And I can take the items to the PO when I want and not have to worry about making arrangements for someone to come see the item. Just be careful on CL!

I've sold and bought on Craigslist. I'd recommend meeting them somewhere near your house- McDs or a gas station - just for safety. I've never had a problem, but you're telling someone where you live and that you have a baby/toddler. For your safety and theirs.
I give away a lot of stuff on freecycle.org. It's great for all of that stuff that you don't really want to throw away, but it's not worth much. I put it all out on the porch, and someone will usually take it all. And then repost anything they couldn't use. You can obviously get free stuff on there too. A lot of kids stuff goes around.

i belong to a few cheapcycle groups where you can sell items.buy items and wanted items and pets..i am a moderator on yahoo for 3 of these groups and i run a pet site myself if you want to i can invite you to these groups
