Has Anyone Tried the Scootababy Carrier?

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone has tried the Scootababy carrier and if so, any thoughts on it? My 6 month old LOVES to be carried around for much of the day and this looks like something that might work. We have the Baby Bjorn, but she doesn't seem too happy in it. I tend to carry her on my hip, which is what the Scootababy is for. Before I invest the 100.00+ on it, just looking for feedback from someone that may have one. Thanks for your help! H.

Hi,

I don't know the scootababy, but I too love my Moby Wrap. My daughter is 10 months old and I have used it with her since birth. It is super comfortable and I love that it does not have any buckles or straps to adjust. (And, you can just throw it in the wash) Now, as others mentioned, it does take some practice at first. I found some really helpful videos on youtube that people made demonstrating how to tie it. They have all different colors and patterns and I thought that it was relatively inexpensive compared to other carriers on the market.

Good luck!

I've never tried the Scootababy carrier, but i had the baby bjorn, the peanut shell and a bunch of other ones. I would strongly recommend you purchase the moby wrap (www.mobywrap.com). it may look complicated at first, and may require help the first couple times, but i promise you you will get the hang of it. it was recommended by my chiropractor and worked wonderfuly for my back. it is very comfortable for both baby and mom and has a bunch of different positions that i still use now that my baby is over a year old.

I was looking at the site. Personally I like my Ergo Baby Carrier. http://www.ergobabycarrier.com You can wear it on the hip, your front, or your back and can use it with toddlers. I LOVE the nap hood which helps not only shade their eyes but supports their heads while they are sleeping. I still use mine often and my son is 17 months old now. I even have the diaper bag back pack which I LOVE. It's sturdy and attaches to the baby carrier.

I've used almost every carrier EXCEPT the Scootababy! I, too, absolutely love my Ergo. But it's really not a good hip carrier. It's amazing for front and back, but the only carrier that I found to be really good for the hip was a basic Maya wrap. (Typical sling, with a metal ring.) Slings are rough, once you hit a certain weight though. So I always just put my son (about 26 pounds- 13 months old) on my front or back.

I also used the Moby wrap and the Baby Bjorn early on, and liked them both. But if I had to choose, I'd do an Ergo and Maya wrap combo. I just think those two are the best from birth on!

I second the Ergo Carrier - it is the most comfortable carrier I have tried and won't use anything else. I have walked 2+ miles and all over Disney with my daughter and never got so much as a twinge. And best of all my daughter loves it! Even naps!

I have the Ergo too and love it. We had the Bjorn before, but as my daughter reached 5 months, the weight of carrying her in it hurt my back. With the Ergo, aside from the extended time you can use it, their weight is carried on your hips - much more comfortable and less stress on your back.

I have a few friends with the Moby (or same style) wrap, and they also love that - it's a less expensive option that is also versatile.

Good luck!

Try the Ergo carrier instead. I love mine. You can use it in the front, the back or the side and it's designed so they are actually sitting in it with their weight on their bottom rather than all their weight on their crotch and spine like in the Baby Bjorn. It can be used from birth until about 4 years old. It's also really comfortable for me and my husband to wear. The material is a nice strong heavyweight cotton/denim type fabric and it's really soft and comfortable for my son. It also washes well. My son is almost 1 and he is 19 lbs and he is still fine in the front but we are thinking of trying the back soon. He can either sit up and look around or snuggle onto my chest and fall asleep, which he does quite often on long walks. I just snap on the head cover, which keeps his head from flopping back, and also keeps him covered from the sun. It's a really ingenious design. From the design of that scootababy, it looks pretty impossible for a child to fall asleep and does not look all that comfortable for long amounts of time. I would recommend the ergo over anything else- the wraps have to be retied, adjusted, etc. The ergo is easy to put on and comfortable even for long walks. We even carry my son around with us in the winter. I bundle him up, put him in the carrier and then put my winter coat on over both of us and he is nice and warm.

I'm sorry. I know nothing about it. I saw the website and it looks kind of "boxy" to me, like the bjorn is. Many babies dont like this type of carrier with the buckles and what not. I preferred 2 different carriers. I liked the Maya wrap, which can be used as a sling, hit carry, front carry, and back carry. I also LOVED the Moby wrap, which was just as versatile and very comfy. The only problem with the Moby is it tended to get hot in the summer. They are about half the price of the scootababy. They are also soft and mor comfy for baby, I found. They take a bit of practice to figure out how to use them, but well worth it! Check out their websites and see if that might suit your needs. And if you have any questions about them, I'd be happy to answer.
