I have two daughters (2 years old and 4 months) who are currently watched by my Mother while I work fulltime. The time has come, my husband and I need some time to ourselves; but we do not have anyone to watch them for us. I do not want to ask my parents as they already watch them all week... but I am hesistant to leave them with anyone else. Has anyone tried sittercity? If so, is there someone you would recommend in the SW Fort Worth area? I have also considered recruiting an education major at from a local college. We are not needing anyone on a regular basis, but would like to have someone available for the occasional date night. Any suggestions/tips regarding how to go about finding a trustworthy, reliable babysitter would be much appreciated. TIA!

What can I do next?

I've tried care.com, and I was very happy. I did a three month membership, and I now have a very reliable babysitter that my family just loves! Check it out...it may be cheaper than sittercity.

I used sittercity.com to find a part-time sitter and was pleased with the results. I posted my "job" on sittercity and had over 15 people respond. I then interviewed the sitters over the phone, asked some to come to my house to meet the kids, and then asked 2 sitters to do a "trial run" where I was home, but the sitter was primarily responsible for the kids. I would recommend sittercity. You can pay a little extra for background checks and you can see reviews from other sittercity members. I live North of Fort Worth so my list of sitters wouldn't help you. Good luck.

Hi C.

Check out Seeking Sitters if you get a chance. A friend of mine told me about them and I signed up to use their services. They do background checks on the sitter without a fee and they are very professional. They show up with Seeking Sitter shirts and a bag of toys or activities that are age appropriate. They also fill out forms to let you know what the child played with, diaper changes, what they watched on tv, what they ate and when they went to sleep etc. I am very pleased with the sitters they send and you can call last minute which is very convenient. Also you can pay by credit card. They charge $15.00 an hour and they also do extended overnight stays and will travel out of town with you if needed.

Happy New Year,
C.

I have considered candidates from Sittercity. Overall there seemed to be a broad range of experience levels etc. While I have not ended up using anyone locally, I did use it to identify a sitter when I was out of town - it worked out well.

Good luck
