Hello Mamas,

My husband has found this website online called Xbid. It looks as if you place bids and then get items for a very low price. Has anyone used this site before or know anyone who has? You have to register and I don't want to unless it is a legit site. I already get enough junk mail as it is. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I would Google the website and look for any buyer comments. I recently signed up for SwipeAuctions (an online auction site) and they took $159.00 from my credit card during the sign up process. It did not say anywhere on the site that there was a *sign up fee* but essentially, they were selling me "bids" so they feel the $159.00 was a legal charge. I found on thier site a refund option, filled out all the paper work and sent it in only to find out 4 days later that the site was closed down and all refunds were stopped. So, I am still battling this out with my bank trying to get my money back. Just be careful. The site I signed up on looked real, had amazing testamonials and even had charitable organizations vouching for them. None of this was real. The company that charged my credit card was in Nigeria so not only did they get my $159.00, I also had to pay an international credit card fee of $3.99.
I am just suggesting that you becareful. If it sounds to good to be true, it generally is.

I have heard of several sites like this and from what I can tell, they are mostly a scam. Just google Xbid and see how many scam reports and complaints come up. I would not trust any buyer comments on their own web page. The rule is - if it sounds too good to be true, then chances are it is a scam!
