I'm considering joining weight watchers. I have about 15 lbs that I would like to lose. Has anyone had success with this program and any comments about the weekly meetings and online tools? I would welcome any comments, concerns and/or success stories.
thanks so much!! I have friends who have done well with this program.

What can I do next?

I am also a happy life time member of weight watchers. I originally lost 18 pounds the first time and then all the left over baby weight with my first child. The second time I joined in for regular meetings the e-tools came free. I really enjoyed the e-tools as it made preplanning food for the next day really easy as well as finding tasty recipes with the indgredients you have on hand and in the points limits you're looking for.

Good Luck

I attended weight watchers and attended meetings - I lost about 15 lbs so I do think it works.

Now that I have decided to lose the rest of the weight I am using Sparkpeople.com which is free and I love it!

You are basically counting calories just like ww. On their site there is a place to track calories and well as fitness. They have a great community board (I found the ww boards to be a little harsh) and LOADS of useful information. And like I said the best part is that it's FREE!

Check it out.........

i used ww online and i loved it and still do. when i was pregnant with my second child, i didn't gain a lot of weight, but i was already obese. well when she was born i lost all of it immediately and then some. then i was stuck and couldn't lose anymore weight, so i figured what the heck, tried weight watchers and the first week i lost 3lbs! after that i was hooked, not only are you losing weight the healthy way, but it teaches you portion control and how to eat better for yourself and family. the online program is nice because you can track everything right there and have access to 1000's of recipes with the points accessible right there. good luck in what you decide

I have had success withi WW in the past. I need to lose weight again and I think Ww has the best plan because it teaches and guides you through choosing the right foods and the right portions. However, I can't get past the terrible so called motivators who run the meetings now. Most of them are people I do not want to look like but because they lost weight they think they are gorgeous. I don't have the discipline to do it alone at home. It comes down to if you want to lose weight you have to be motivated to do it.

I've been doing WW (etools are included w/meetings plan) for about a month & a half/2 months. I lost most of the baby weight right away (my son is 6 months old & nursing), but I still wanted to lose more. I've lost about 12 lbs. & I think it's the best program. (Years ago I'd done Atkins, Slimfast, Hollywood Diet, etc. & this is the only one that seems do-able for the rest of my life.) The program makes sense & is easy to follow. You just have to track your points - it's explained in all the literature you get when you sign up. The women @ the meetings are so friendly & relaxed, and it's a good accountability system. Good luck. :)

I am currently attending Weight Watchers and have lost almost 20 lbs since the beginning of the year. It is a program that works! I attend meetings because it they keep me more focused when I know that someone else is going to be seeing my weight.

Good luck!

I did WW a few years back and lost 20 lbs. in 2 months. I didn't attend any meeting or on line things, I just met with my friends weekly who were all doing it. I know they have on line groups you can go to for free if you look around. I think it is a good program. I now choose to diet via watching calories instead because I never fully understood at the time the points vs. calories relation. So, I spent so much time figuring out points. Now that I have done calorie counting instead (which is really the same thing), I find it to be much easier to continue after I finish "dieting". But, it is a great program and I did well on it. If I can do well, anyone can. :)

My mother-in-law is on the weight watchers program and has done really well. She has lost 25 pounds since November! and she says that she finds it is easy. They teach you how to make better choices when you eat so your can still eat out and have real food. This makes it more of a life style change whcih will help you to keep weight off. Our family doctor ahs said that of all of the weight loss plans available weight watchers is the best and most successful! Good Luck!

I used WW to lose over 100 lbs several years ago...I put alot of it back on but that's been my own fault due to my lifestyle choices. It is a great program. I did the regular meetings...didn't use the online stuff too much except to find points information. If you can discipline yourself a little (key to any major change in eating habits!) it is a really great choice...and it is sustainable if you keep it up.

I used WW online after I put on weight after knee surgery. At first I put on weight until I realized that I had to eat less calories then they were recommending. For me to loose weight I need to stick to 1500-1600 calories a day and exercise daily. Once I figured this out WW did really help.

I highly recommend weight watchers. I am a lifetime member of WW. I joined and lost 20 lbs. and maintained until I started having children. The program is simple, you can eat what you want when you want and the support is great. I recommend the meetings (can't say how the etools work because I never used them) because the support is great, the recognition is motivating and everyone is so helpful. You have to look at WW as a lifestyle change and stick to it forever or the weight will sneak back on. Hope this helps!!

There has been a lot of response already so I will be brief. I Recently began Weight Watchers after having done it about 3 years ago. I have lost 10 lbs in about 6 weeks. I could do better if I counted EVERY point. I plan to lose another 10-15 lbs. It is a healthy balanced diet where you can eat ANYTHING you want. The secret is Portion Control! Always my issue, rather than snacking. I pay automatically and it is the cheapest way and the on-line is included. I find the meetings very helpful and encouraging. I go the the Friday morning meetings in Crystal Lake. I think their speakers are very good. Give it a try... Good Luck! P.S. My business is invitations weddings, parties, baptisms etc. etc. I would be interested in your vedor experience (wish I was one of them). I am looking for other wedding vendors to be part of a Wedding Supplier Group to which I belong (Your Wedding Pros). We ae looking for a photographer especially. If you have any recommendations for me, please let me know. www.cherann.net Thanks, C.
