Hi, I have a girlfriend that had this happen to her. She was experiencing all the classic signs of pregnancy and the tests kept saying she wasn't. She took one home test and had blood tests done 3 times. When she started complaining to her obgyn she was told that since the blood tests came back negative she had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and was put on a very strong medication. The symptoms got worse and she started putting on weight so she went back and they decided to do an ultrasound to see how many Cysts she had. After 3 weeks on medication she found out she was 9 1/2 weeks pregnant. Everything said she wasn't. She went off the meds and just had a healthy baby boy. Good luck and I hope it works for you. You may want to request an Ultrasound just to be safe.

Go and get a blood test immediately. The same thing happened to me. I took three blood tests all were negative. I finally went to the doctor and found out I was five months pregnant. Those tests are not reliable.

This happened to me literally last month and it turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy. I would call your ob/gyn.

Hi A., my name is Carmel, and yes i have had the same thing happen to me!!! I think it's hormonal. I too get all the classic signs including the constant urination. When I shared this with my doctor we decided to run some tests. Thyroid specifically. But, nothing came up. So, she thinks it's my hormones changing. She suggested that I go on the pill, but I am not interested in that as an option right now.

So, my suggestion is to check with your OBGYN and have your thyroid checked and if that is clear there maybe some other tests she/he can run or go on birth control if that is right for you. But, yes, I was constantly taking pregnancy tests and they kept coming up negative. It frustrating on several levels. I would be happy to chat more with you about this if you want.

Abby - I had this problem as well. It seemed everytime I took a home pregnancy test it would come up negative so finally I would go to the doctor and tell him the problem I was having, he would run a pregnancy test and it would come back positive. This happened to me on 5 different occassions (2 ended in miscarriages but the other 3 gave my beautiful baby boys). But on the other side a friend had this happen and she was told that it was a hormonal imbalance. Either way I would go see the doctor and let them tell you for certain.

Good luck to you,
R.

Abby, this happened to me with my first pregnancy. I think I took 5 tests and was driving myself crazy...they were all neg. Then I took one the day after I missed my period and it was positive. Have you already missed your period? If not, maybe wait until right after you were supposed to have it and then take one. Good luck!

Abby

That just happened to me and I ended up pregnant now Im almost 4 months. I did the same thing that you did. I even changed up the test as used different brands. I did about 5 tests and the last test came up positive. So maybe try a different brand and see if that works cause it does sound like your prego. Well take care and hope everything works out for you.

Hi Abby

Its funny you asked about this because the exact thing happened to me. It was October 06, in my heart I knew I was pregnant (moody, tired, sore, nauseous, all that fun stuff). Plus I was late on my period as well. Not only did the preg tests I took at home turn up negative, the ones at the doctors office did as well. The doctor told me to wait a week, then take another test, it was two weeks before I finally got a postive one!! Now we have a 7 month old little boy!!

Hope it turns out which ever way you want it to.

K.

I took 3 pregnancy tests and they were all negative, then at the dr it was positive?? My mother never had a positive urine test with me, ever. You should see your doctor just in case and if you're not pregnant, it could be a hormonal problem.

Hi A.,

Yes, this happened to me. I suspected I was pregnant, took 2 at home tests one during the day and one with first morning urine - both negative. A week and a half later I went to the doctor. They did both a urine test and a blood test - both negative. I waited two more weeks, still no period (late by about a month), swollen boobs, bloated, nausea, exhausted, and moody. The doctor did a urine test (my fifth pregnancy test) which finally was positive. I believe I had pregnancy symptoms from the moment of conception and it took some time, a month, to show up in my urine. Hang in there for another week or so, take another test, and perhaps see your doctor. Your gynecologist can usually tell if your pregnant by a pelvic exam too.

Good luck!

Hi A.,
I'm a mother of four. When I became pregnant with our youngest I had the same happen to me. I felt pregnant, had symptoms of being pregnant, but all tests pointed to no.
A friend suggested this. Take the test first thing in the morning. The protein that the home tests test for is strongest when it is concentrated...usually the first morning bathroom visit. I tried this and sure enough...the first test (I had three ready) came back positive. Hope you do find out soon. I remember being frustrated. Good Luck

Please go to your Doctor and have your hormone levels checked. I had the same thing happent to me. I wasn't pregnant at the time and I went for over a year without a proper diagnosis. My doctor put me on a low estrogen diet and that truely helped.

Hi, Abby.
I had a friend in highschool who stopped having periods, grew tired, had sore breasts, and even started lactating, but she wasn't pregnant. It turned out she had a tumor on her pituitary gland! I used to have some of those same symptoms when I was on Ortho Tricylcen, and had to stop taking it. If you don't turn out to be pregnant after a few more weeks, I would definitely go see a doctor as soon as possible to find out why your hormones are out of whack.
Good luck, J.

I had the same thing happen to me with may baby now 3. I was late with my period. I took 3 home test and 2 blood, over a 2 mth period. I had my wrist oper. on the end of April, laid in the tanning bed, went out on the town with a few girlfriends, and guess what I was prego the whole time. The doc didn't know why it didn't show up till June 8, so the tests are not always right not even the blood. Yes even though everything I had done those two mths I had a very healthy baby girl. Good luck I hope everyting works out for you.

Not to alarm you, but something similar happened with my friend last summer - turned out to be an ectopic pregnancy and they caught it just in time. Give a call to your OB/GYN and see if they have any suggestions or if they want to do any tests for it, also so that they are in the loop on what is going on with you - they may have other suggestions. Also, if you are trying to get pregnant, you can 'wishful thinking' your body into a state of 'false pregnancy' sometimes, so it may be that as well.

Pregnancy tests vary in their sensitivity, but the most sophisticated ones can tell after a week. Depending on how late you are (one week? two? three?) is whether the test is picking it up.

Talk to your doctor though, because my friend with the ectopic preganancy was also testing negative on the preg tests, but had the boobs bigger/sensitive, food issues, tired, belly started to pooch out, etc. Turns out that she was almost 9 weeks along before they identified it as an ectopic pregnancy.

Hopefully it is not that, but better safe than sorry!
Good luck!

When you take the test, are you using your first morning urine? The hCG hormone is more concentrated at that point because you have gone several hours without peeing.

Call the dr and see if they will do a blood test.

I have had this happen to me more than once...it can just be that you are really late or that the pregnancy didn't take at all and your period will come. I hope this doesn't bum you out..but for me the pregnancy test never became positive...I do hope it turns out as you hope it does.
